ETA: Just sent'em an email
Scottwax said:Don't ask them what they are using on it, tell them to DO NOTHING TO IT!!!!!
Rob Tomlin said:Having bought enough new cars, I know exactly what you mean. I have been in a similar situation, where I ask them specifically not to put anything on the car in terms of "prep" but they say that they have a "policy" or some other crap about having to do it. If it is a vehicle I really want, and you have already gone through a ton of time and energy to make the deal, you aren't going to walk away from it just because they did some prep work....unless of course the paint shows some problems.
Scottwax said:Personally, I'd still walk. If I am paying good money for a car, it better be exactly the way I specify or no deal. I'm the customer. They want my money, they will keep their grubby hands and crappy products off the car.
Rob Tomlin said:I certainly agree in principle, but I can tell you that reality and practicality of the matter can be a different story.
cptzippy said:Well, we'll find out tomorrow afternoon (smiles and crosses fingers)...
Accumulator said:Just depends on, well....all the stuff it depends on. I for one have walked away from a number of cars, including new ones, right at the last moment over "minor" issues (their opinion, not mine). Seriously, I dictate the terms or I deal with somebody else.
Scottwax said:If you are going to polish the car, no point in removing whatever is on the car.
Scottwax said:Are you kidding? If polishing will remove a bit of the clear coat, do you really think a wax or sealant can stand up to it?
