Wax on Windows

I was curious if anyone has used a wax on windows? More so the side and rear than the windshield. Anyone tried waxing?

Thanks, Dave

I've used Klasse on my windows before. I know there are a few Zaino on glass fans around too. I guess you could wax the windows, but I doubt that it would last very long. The wiper fluid and the wiper blades going over them would wear it out pretty quick. I'd stick with a sealant if you were going to go the non RainX or Aquapel route.

I've tried carnauba on the side windows - too hard to deal with!

Recently started playing with Zaino on one side and Diamondite on the other - too soon for any real comparisons, but pretty good so far.

I used L&S 501 (from L&S Industries an acrylic based polish like Klasse) on all the windows including...ummmm:eek: the windshield with excellent results! I think L&S 501 is very similar to Klasse. I never put wax on the windshield for fear of wiper chatter, but so far the L&S 501 Acrylic polish is super slick and no chatter. And as for the past I always usually wiped all my windows down with the MF towel that I used to remove wax with thus creating a nice thin layer that actually beaded great without having to actually put any wax on. Didn't like the results of Diamondite Shield, although the clay works great.

I've never used any wax (even Klasse SG) on my windows.

On the side windows I don't put anything, even rain-X as it doesn't seem to work too well there. On the back and front window I'll usually applying Rain-X.

Rain-X was still strong on my trucks windshield the other day even after two months!

Go with Rain-X. Cheap, pretty easy to use if you do it right, and it lasts.

I've applied Z2 to my windows. When it rains, the passengers in my car are amazed at how water beads up and just roll off. I've also noticed that dirt doesn't stick very well to the glass when Zaino has been applied. I don't like it on my windshied though.

Anyone clay their windows? If so, do you spritz a lubricant first like with paint? Anyone use Autoglym Car Glass Polish? Any glass polish at WalMart, Target etc...? Don't feel like placing another online order.

Blackfire(2) works very well on glass. The glass looks extremely clear from inside the car and reflective on the outside. It won't perform like Rain-X on windshields, but the wipers work better.

Yes, I've clayed the glass on my car before, it works pretty well, but make sure the clay is properly lubricated and clean at all times or it will scratch the glass. I haven't used a glass polish before, but I plan to try the Zaino one with my next order of Zaino.

I've clayed the windshield on my 88,000+ mile daily driver a couple of times using EF Clear Vision as the lubricant. Works great! Also a good way to learn the feel of clay if you've never clayed before.

Well I put some #26 paste on the rear window of my pickup. Ill see how it turns out and let you guys know. Im not going to put anything on the windshield.

Thanks

Yes I clay the glass, it does seem to improve the slickness, and I use Autoglym Glass Polish - very good stuff. There are a number of folk here who really like it. Easy to use and produces great results.

For all those using sealants, what do you use/recommend to clean or wash your windshield once you have sealant on? I normally use a crumpled newspaper with a mixture of 50% water, 25% vinegar, and 25% denatured alcohol; however, I'm sure that would remove the sealant.

50% vinegar and 50% distilled water is good for cleaning glass. No streaks or film. Good on mirrors too. Kind of stinky for a couple minutes because of the vinegar. Cheap and effective

Just a note about Klasse and windows. When one uses klasse it is best to use very little product. Often it is hard to tell how much product you are using especially on certain colors. By practicing on glass you can understand better the right amount to use.

I'm using Z2 on my windows and just wash them when I wash my car with Z7. I dry with a MF towel and spray some Z6 on there too.

any reason? I've never put anything on the windows, I don't want any problems.

It seems to make my wipers chatter after a while. My wipers were working great for 3 years (never had to replace them once), until I applied Z on my windshield. The wipers work great after applying Z to the windshield for a couple of swipes and then they start chattering. I guess the wipers make it come off too easily and whatever left on the windshield and wiper blades makes them chatter.
