Wax: Liquid - Paste - Spray

Hey everyone. I am very new to all this detailing stuff. I would like to know whats the difference between liquid, paste, and spray wax. Lets assume they are all the same wax, but in those different forms. What are the pros and cons of each kind?

PS - Sorry for the double post.

This is how I would believe it to be:

Ease of Use

1. Spray

2. Liquid

3. Paste

Looks

3 way tie?

Durability

1. Paste

2. Liquid

3. Spray

I hope the OP doesn't mind a supplementary.

If you apply a spray wax eg OCW, which I assume has a high proportion of solvents present compared to a paste wax, as a top up is it likely to take off much of the paste wax already on assuming the wax is well cured.

Presumably solvents in the spray wax will tend to clean the surface slightly which could be beneficial.

General anecdotes lead everyone to say durability goes paste > liquid > spray. In general I would expect that to be true, but I would counter to say that pastes and liquids have heavier carriers than sprays and the perception of a thick carrier (ie paste) giving more durablity is not fully accurate.

While one could generalize that pastes typcally last longer than spray, I would compare something like duragloss aquawax against any OTC paste nuba. I would also consider productions like optimum opti-seal and think about its durability compared to pastes and liquids.
