WAUD over a polymer or carnauba

Do you think it matters if this product gets used over a polymer or a carnauba topper? The back of WAUD says that it contains polymers and waxes, which means that it contains polymers and carnauba ingredients?
 
I emailed EO a few months back about the content of carnauba....their response was that it did NOT contain carnauba. My guess is that it contains a silicone emulsion of some kind that can be classified as "wax." :nixweiss Sort of like what a wash and wax type product has in it.



I have stopped using it ever since it ruined two of my WW's...

This is exactly why I started this thread. Not to disagree, but I too called eagle one a few weeks ago and I was told that it DOES contain carnauba. I think I talked to one of their chemists. This kind of makes me upset. Can't we all get the same answer?

Here is a post from a vendor on another forum:



"I have heard this situation a variety of times, and after personally speaking with a major MF Manufacturer in Korea, they have advised people to boil thier MF for 10 minutes. I know this sounds crazy, but somehow or another, your fibers have gotten clogged up. By all means, you will not be breaking down the fibers or anything. Give it a try and report back to us...BE CAREFUL NOT TO BURN YOURSELF!"



Disclaimer: I have never tried this, but if it brings back your WW's it may be worth a shot. Actually I thought of Corey Bit Spank when I read it because he said the same thing happened to his WW.
 
First things first. I'm sure everyone has different results using waud. I've been using this product for about a year now with no bad affects to my waffles. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, all I'm saying is that it hasn't happened to me. I've boiled microfibers before with no bad affects either. The only thing I've noticed is that the colors will fade.



Now, how about we get back to my original question?

Evidently, whatever silicone/wax emulsion(or whatever it is) clogged the fibers in my towel. I was using a dedicated WWMF towel when drying with WAUD. After about two months of weekly use the towel stopped absorbing and began pushing the water around. I washed it several times with a host of detergents and white vinegar, nothing helped. The towel now repels water. To make sure it was the WAUD and not the towel, I duplicated the results with a blue microtex MF from wal-mart. I love WAUD, but not at the expense of my towels.



Eliot Ness, thanks I will try that. I remeber an old thread where someone's towels were repelling water and there was talk of boiling them.
 
I routinely wash my MFs in hot water exclusively, especially the WW's with WAUD.



WAUD has been one of my favorite products. I don't QD anymore. I spritz the WAUD when the car is wet and wipe off.



I have heard folks dillute WAUD and make a QD out of it.

Their website states (as you also stated in your original post) it contains "A special blend of water-reactive polymers and waxes." I would *think* if those waxes were a carnauba it would state that fact. Your conversation with EO and the e-mail that ebpcivicsi received don't clear up the situation too much.



However, here is the ingredient listing on the gallon jug I bought about 1 1/2 years ago:

Petroleum Distillates, Propylene Glycol, Polydimethyl Siloxane, and water..... no mention of a carnauba.

Try washing in hot water with 3/4 cup of Simple Green. I find it breaks down wax buildup. If it can degrease an engine, it can clean WAUD from a towel :D

How true! I love it on top of sealants, I hate hnow it looks on top of carnaubas....
 
Mosca, very true. I couldnt put the look to words but you did. On my Alpine white the best way to descibe it is silvery.... It does make things slick as heck though for so very little work.
