waterproof/quick drying shoes?

Walmart Crocs = $8. Only wear at home while washing car, or playing with kids in Sprinkler. They work great, and are very comfy, but some might question your manhood if seen in public....

Look into Sketchers.
I bought a pair of their casual shoes last year and was totally happy with them. The best fitting shoe I'd had, on a par with Echo.

Then a few months later I realized they were eating my socks. Really. There was a sewn in label on the non-removable insole, and the seam ate my socks. Since I wear SmartWool exclusively, it wasn't cheap to replace them all, which I had to do. Oh well ...

:rules: OK, Guys. Keep the topic on track. No name-calling and be careful not to accidently offend others with a wise crack or comment.

Thanks!

Thanks Brad. I found that post offensive to female members, perhaps that is why so many of them don't post very often. I tried to make a point and was rewarded with being talked down to and my nationality insulted. I'd hate to see this board degenerate into how some other detailing forums have become. I've always found useful posts and helpful information here but that seems to be on the decline. I won't hijack this thread any longer.

I am pretty sure that my post in no way offended women, and that is why they are not here. Call 100 detailers, and 90 of them will be men. It sucks, but it is a male dominated business. And like I said before, if you have a problem with me, take it to the PMs.

get some crocs. they are completly waterproof. extremely confortable, keep your feet cool. your feet wont get sweaty in them.

I bought the Speedo watershoes that Costco has been selling lately, specifically for when I wash cars. I guess I was expecting more out of them. They do not keep my feet dry, and they take as long to dry as regular shoes. The worst part is because you wear it barefooted, after awhile they start to reek REALLY bad.

I'm gonna have to try out the cheap, generic crocs from Walmart.

The black crocs look ok (classic style), but the all-terrains look like a great snow/rain shoe for colder times.

I like Keen Sandals because they are waterproof last a long time. The big plus is that they protect your toes. I have seen cheaper knock offs with the same style at Target and a few other places. The main thing is they dry quick, good traction, and protect your toes.

Plus you don't look like a gay chef from the Food Network with some of the clogs named here! :chuckle:

These days I go with the rubber-bottom Bean boots, two pairs I can alternate between if one is still wet from the previous day's work. I like wearing running shoes for some detailing jobs, but not for work that entails getting wet.

Working at a dealership, I think you'd need to stay a bit "professional" and that might rule out a lot of the footwear you might use at home. The dealerships I worked for required steel toes on the shop floors, so I had to wear leather workboots that I kept heavily oiled (and again, I traded back and forth between two pairs so they could dry out).

i can wear crocs at work, theyre ugly as **** and i hate them, but they are PRACTICAL for me while i am working. how are they for anti slip? i havent fell yet, but i have been kinda close a few times. my work will supply anti slip shoes but i guess they not comfy and dont resist water at all.

i wear the old chuck taylors while working.

Ditto.

Otherwise I have a pair of Airwalk sandals that dry very quick. I spend a lot of time in office buildings, though, so I almost always change shoes before leaving the shop to meet clients. All this talk about Crocs, though, I might actually have to check them out. That last pair posted didn't look too bad as long as you don't pick a pastel color.

Edit: Whoa... they make knee pads, too!

I just bought a pair of Crocs Off Roads after seeing so many people with them at Ford Carlisle this weekend. They aren't THAT ugly and I tell you, they are a lot more comfortable and dry than I would ever have imagined.

+1 for Keen :up

No break-in period and it's comfy enough for all day wear during the rainy season as well as for just washing my cars. They are also available as loafers and clogs.

If you buy online (zappos has terrific customer service and they match prices), keep in mind that Keen's shoes usually run half a size smaller than usual so read the reviews and order accordingly. I got mine from REI on sale for much less but it's worth it at full price.

Ok, so after reading this thread, I purchased a pair of the Keen Newport H2's a few days ago from Zappos.com (by the way, a great place to buy shoes. I've ordered a few times from them and have had nothing but the perfect experience. The Keen's were ordered Thursday afternoon and were on my doorstep Friday afternoon; free overnight shipping).

Anyway, the shoes are awesome! My feet get very sore very easily. I've been in search of a good supportive "sandle". I have finally found them. While they are somewhat difficult to put on, the comfort level is as good as I've come across. Even Crocs aren't this comfortable for me. I also like the fact that my toes are in no danger of being crushed by anything since they are covered by a protective rubber shell. The upper part of the Keen's holds my feet snug so that they don't slide around inside.

I just can't say enough good things about my new favorite shoes! They are somewhat expensive, but after wearing them, it was money well spent. I would HIGHLY recommend these shoes to anyone looking for a comfortable wet/dry hybrid sandle (part shoe, part sandle).
