Our local water code enforcement dept has been working overtime recently. They busted a few local dealerships for allowing waste water from their weekly lot wash/maintenance to get into the local storm drains. So they are no longer allowed to wash the cars on their lots without investing in additional equipment or without trying to fly under the law's radar.
Since most of my business is doing details (which pay better than just doing washes) and washes for people who subscribe to my monthly maintenance packages, I'm really not interested in taking up my time doing hundreds of additional washes.
Instead I've been thinking about approaching these dealerships, who have their own washing/detailing staff, and submitting a proposal to train their staff on how to do waterless washes. This training would be followed up monthly by me, I would train new employees and check up on the work and process the lot employs, and I would supply the waterless wash supplies.
The only thing I am struggling with is what price to charge. I think it would only take an hour or two to train their staff to do washes via my process. Then it would only take an additional hour or two per month to check in on the staff, resupply and bill for the time and product purchased. I would, in essence be a trainer/consultant/product vendor.
What do you think is an appropriate charge for a service like that?
