Water spots on vinyl? Clay it or what?

Some water spots wont come off the vinyl stripes
The stripes are a woven texture pattern

Mckees vinyl did not get them all
Neither did cg mm
S&w, s&w

Next.....?

Clay softly with blue nanoskin or real clay? Doesn`t seem safe in my mind

Gyeon water spot? Straight or diluted

What?



Never had issues with the vinyl on the other new hellcat

Its textured, woven

Shiny ir matte depending on how light hits it

and here`s the weirdest part, they only appear when sprayed with water or a cleaner
Then you wipe across the hood, they vanish

Spray it again, hello spots

What the...?

I don`t know what the proper solution would be (just don`t know from Carbon Fiber, period), but I`d be awfully surprised if Clay were it. Keep in mind that clay is supposed to glide across a film of lube, shearing off stuff (contamination) that it bumps into.

I`d be thinking about some chemical solution first.
 
This is a tough one for anyone to remove, I can`t find any good product to remover these pest from vinyl even if I burn them. I have try a APC product mixed with H2O and a very soft old tooth brush and gently work in those areas and also have a wet MF on standby to wipe asap. These vinyl products are made by different companies and are a pain to work with. Please be careful on what you use on them. P.S. I had some luck with 303 Multi-Surface Cleaner also.
 
Sounds like im just gonna advise the client and show him what i mean

You can not see them Until you get moisture on the surface. Then when the moisture dries, the trace of the water spots go away...so strange, its like theyre hiding deep in the fibers

That`s a MOPAR, right? Gets me thinking of ValuGard`s ABC since that stuff is approved by them....but then I guess I always say something about using ABC even though *I* virtually never reach for it :D
 
Sounds like there is something like a vinyl protectant that has gotten on the vinyl or some type of oil. I would try something made to clean vinyl car tops. 303 makes some good stuff or Raggtopp. I prefer a chemical decon in this case over a mechanical abrasive type of removal. Or try varying strengths of APC and the softest brush you can find. The new McKees Wax Remover may work, just do not leave it on more than 20 seconds. The bottle says 30 seconds, but I found that to be too long on some plastics (review to come).
 
Did you try wiping with vinegar? Isn`t that one of the primary things people use for waterspots? I wouldnt think it would hurt the vinyl to try.

Was going to say this exact thing - start with some dilution of vinegar. Possibly saturate a cloth with it, let it sit on the area for a bit and see if that works.
 
I hit it with mckees vinyl again and didnt see the spots this time

Not saying theyre gone but they didnt show back up

Mystery spots...strange
