I've always been using Meguiar's Gold Class car wash to wash my cars since I began detailing. However, I've never known how much soap I am really supposed to use in ratio to the water. I find that after rinsing the car and beginning to use my wash mitt on my 3-4th passes (dunking into second bucket, squeeze, and back into wash bucket), the soap no longer "covers" the surface on the first pass. The soap solution begins to separate, like water beads separate, as opposed to leaving a layer of soap on the paint. In this case, I need to give it a few more passes to cover up the surface with soap. To be honest, I've never really measured how much soap to water I use, so I can't really give an exact measurement. What dilution do you guys use?
