"Wasted away again in Carunubaville"

Well I’ve done it, Gone back to carunuba. After about a six month stint of Klasse, I could tell, it was time to do something with the finish. I was planning on getting Zaino, but haven’t gotten around to it. In the meantime, I thought I would enjoy a short stint in Carunbaville.
I first clayed the hood of my ml with griots clay and mothers quick detailer.
Then used p21s paintwork cleanser (thanks Steve for the suggestion) with a white CMA pad and it is now one of my new favorite products. Goes on nice, comes off nice, and leaves the surface oh so nice.
Next I used Pinnacle Souveran which I had been topping my Klasse with and realized what a nice shine it gave on its own.
I am very happy with the results and will tide me over till I go Zaino!
Then I kicked back with a Margarita listening to...
I wish..time to clean house

I just ordered up some Soveran for my black Porsche and was wondering if it would be good all by itself. Looks like you answered the question form me. Will you continue to use the Souveran on top of Zaino?
 
No...I wont top my zaino...so it will be an interesting change. If you are going to prep your paint and dont have something yet, I really reccomend the p21s!
 
Wow, wow, wow, wow! No matter how much I love Zaino or Klasse, nothing beats the feeling of a freshly applied coat of carnauba.



Mmm... Carnaubaville or Carnauba Country... utopia in Autopia...

I love the shine a durability of Z, but nothing is more satisfying than putting a fresh coat of a good carnauba on..



I just love rubbing a 'real' wax into the finish once in awhile!!

That's why I keep the van carnauba'd!!!

Heh, heh, heh - glad you like the P21S Cleaner, BW. It is by far, my favorite product - the one thing I couldn't live without. When used by hand it's great, and a white pad on a PC makes it work all the better - the stuff is phenomenal.

P.S.: Jimmy Buffet used to live in the same townhouse complex we live-in in San Francisco...how's that for irony??
 
I am totally sold on Souveran. I have made an extra $140 in the past 10 days since I got mine. After seeing how my paint looks, convincing my high end (and some not so high end) customers that it is worth the extra $15 I charge to use it is worth every penny.



BTW, I have been prepping the paint with Meguiars Swirl Free Polish (Body Shop line), and the results are amazing. I'd post pics, but I left my camera in a rental and one of the employees snagged it. :mad: (time-wise, it had to be an employee). I'll get a new one to replace it soon and post some pics.



I did a black E320 today, and when the customer came out to see it, his mouth fell open. I've been detailing his cars for 8 years (the Benz is a '96) and he says when I use Meguiars, it always looks new, but he said today it looks like it probably looked in the paint booth with the paint still wet and brand new. Got a $15 tip!:xyxthumbs
 
The Merc looks great!

I still am a carnuba fan - Blitz to be specific.

I haven't tried P21S paint cleaner but I don't know if you have tried Meguiars' Medallion Paint Cleaner - it sounds very similiar in the easy on -easy off category.:cool:

Hope you don't mind me asking a question here......



I've been using Souveran and Blitz as a topper for Klasse SG. Does it matter how thick or thin a layer of wax I lay on? I know you guys recommend as thin as possible for Klasse and Zaino, what about for carnauba?

scooby 2: I would lay as thin a layer as possible because no matter how much you use, the same amonut will protect the surface after you buff it out. For me, its a matter of making my souveran last as long as possible! imo. Im sure others will chime in with their thoughts.
 
mmmmmmmmmmm, It looks like if i would touch the paint a ripple would occur. So wet looking. Time to start on our ML! :xyxthumbs

I would layer the wax on my fathers van but he really needs something that'll last a little longer rather than shine. No way I am going to wax that van every two weeks anyhow. One more layer of Klasse every month to month and a half should keep it looking decent.

Pinnacle lasts a lot longer than just two weeks. I used Pinnacle Paste Glaz on 2 LS 400's and an Excursion I wash regularly 2 months ago, and all are still beading and feel slick after washing-and the guy with the Excursion lives about 40 miles one way from his office (where I clean it), and it has been very rainy in the Dallas area. It's holding up very well for a carnuba-although Meguiars #26 beads for 2-2 1/2 months also.

Nah...the worst we got was a few second's of drizzles! Im glad the hail missed us, I only have a carport and with the wind..I was a little nervous.

I guess everyone's expierences are different. I used Paste Glaz on my Lincoln and it only lasted 2 weeks in the Cincy weather. I believe Jason in NY had similar durability. :nixweiss
