Washing too often

another newbie question :some say washing your car too often can damage/mar the paint and also increase the chances of getting swirl marks,is it true?
How often is too often than?I wash my cars once a week. it's Summer why not?

It is true.... technically....

The more that you touch your car with anything, the greater the chances you'll get swirls.

However, it is beneficial to clean and protect your vehicles often. As long as you have a safe washing and drying techniques you'll be fine washing atleast once a week.

Anytime you rub on your paint, you have the chance of some marring or swirls.
Good washing and drying methods will help, but I think it is almost impossible to not have at least some marring.

I wash mine whenever they are dirty. That may be once a week or three times a week. I have even been known to wash the same vehicle three times the same day due to circumstances beyond my control.

Very well put. Proper technique and process will definitely limit the chance of damage to your finish.
