Washing question for truck owners

Its winter in NJ and I got a chance to wash the F150 Harley. Man was it dirty! I don't get to wash often when its winter time and I don't have garage to put the truck in. So it stays out 24/7(that sucks!) First started with the tires, then wheels then wheel wells. Then washed the whole truck afterwards. I think it took me 2 to 3 hours to get the whole truck thoroughly cleaned! I had to go over each panel twice because of winter weather. Also its a big truck to wash. How long does it take you truck guys to wash your trucks?

Without fail, when its filthy, it takes me about 1.5 times longer than normal. Keep in mind I bought my truck in NC about 1 month ago with very little protection on it to begin with, so that is adding to the time taken (remember what Barry Meguiar said - "frequent maintenence is easy maintenence"), but I ALWAYS find a patch here and there around the truck where I didn't get it the first time, prompting me to go over that spot again, and wonder to myself "how the hell did I miss that?" Its just that when you have zero slickness/protection and combine that with dirt, salt, road grime and NE winters, the mitt and shampoo just sometimes don't do enough with one seemingly thorough pass.

To boot, we just got another 10" of snow on Sat - ***? Everytime I go in the garage I pass by my PC on the shelf which is holding up a sign that says "use me". Well, hopefully just a couple more weeks now...

Black 2004 F-150...when I hustle I can count on at least 1 1/2 hours for a good solid wash and dry. Man there is a LOT os sheetmetal to cover on these baby's!!!

Then come back and QD later

With QEW, I can wash an Excursion in around 60-75 minutes, including wheels, wheel wells and door jams. Add 15-30 if washing conventionally. I do this all the time though and you get faster after a while.

I don't feel so bad now. I recently detailed a Chevrolet 2500 heavy duty 4x4 crew cab w/ a cap on the bed and I used QEW which took me about 1 hour & 15 min. I kept saying to myself, Man, this seems like a long time for a QEW wash.:)

Just got my first truck and I've washed it twice so far.

I noticed the the roof is the most difficult to reach. .. Any ideas?

See if THIS would work for you. I have a pair of them and find them indispensable for tall vehicles.
