Washing Microfiber?

I'm glad to hear the Autopia MF aplicators are good, I must order some this week. I don't think I'm gonna order the CBT now, I'll just hold tight with my mf's.

JimS, the Ultimate Detailing towel is a towel sold by autopia-carcare.com, "Ultimate" is part of the name. But I can say that the "Ultimate" Drying towel is indeed ultimate, atleast imo.

One thing I am careful about is not to put the dryer sheets in there with the MF, my husband did just that one time and I couldn't figure out for the life of my why there were greasy streaks on my baby.

I love it! He does the laundry and she details the car! equal opportunity at it's finest!

:wavey Welcome to autopia!

A few questions. If I wash it afirst time with liquid detergent, which cycle should I run it on? and when a final rinse with the vinager what cycle should I have it on? And do you dry them? if so what setting do you dry it on?

I wash mine on the "Permanent Press" cycle which on my machine is in between "Regular Wash" and "Delicate Wash."

I put the vinegar in the fabric softner cup. Just make sure it is clean of softner. I let the machine do the rest.

If you like, you can always run an extra rinse when finished.

I dry mine in the dryer on "Permanent Press" cycle which is a medium heat until almost dry. I then run on "Air Dry" for a while which uses unheated air to circulate around until they are fully dry.

After reading this entire post I'm under the impression that I'm torturing my MF's:scared

I usually throw my MF's in the wash together, throw the machine on to heavy duty cycle using hot water wash and cold water rinse. I also use a little extra detergent to get the brake dust out and ocassionally use oxy clean. I then throw them all into the dryer and dry for about 30 minutes on high heat.

I've noticed on the Cosco MF's that the edges shrink a bit but they stretch back to normal if I pull on them. My other MF's are fine so far.:nixweiss Am I a MF Manufacturers dream come true?

I think you're not off the mark. I too use Oxy Clean on occasion.

I would just be sure that all the soap is out before you transfer to the dryer. I would also tone down the heat on the dryer.

I have heard that washing in hot water isn't that harmful if you have good quality MF's. In fact, that's the best way to ensure that the grunge and product accumulation is removed. I know the Costco ones loose their color after a while. Davidb in the Auotpia stores sells wonderful MF's that can be washed in hot water.

Thanks Spilchy. I'll turn down the heat on the dryer and increase the time to make up the difference. Yeah the Cosco MF's fade fast, usually after the second wash actually. I also noticed that they get hard with extended use unlike my Megs and Magic MF's. I relegate all Cosco MF's to engine, wheel well lip and wheel cleaning duty. I also use them to apply my leather and vinyl conditioners. Wouldn't let them touch my paint though!

I use the Viking foam applicator pad with the black foam topped with a blue different kind of foam handle/knob. It' s large and very easy to hold onto. Love it!
