Washing in the sun help...

What I use to do is make sure you are keeping the whole vehicle wet while you are washing. Achieve this by constantly going back to the panels you have washed and spray them down every other minute or so.

But what about when you start drying? By the time I dry the hood and maybe roof, the whole car is dry, at least in FL heat lol

You may want to look into hooking up a water filter to your hose. This well minimize the number of water spots you get if your car is air drying faster than you are able to towel dry it.

Thats a nice option, but when I do my own cars, I always wash in the morning or afternoon, but I am starting do do friends' cars as well.

Low pressure at the hose, and don't use a nozzle; just let the water flow out of the end so you aren't creating a spray. This may not be the best way to blast stubborn dirt off before soaping up, but I think you're trying to avoid water spotting, so it's compromise.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I think that Ill just utilize flooding and drying a panel at a time. And then just QD any water spots.

I live in Ca and have sun issues at times. These two tips will make your life a lot easier:

1) When drying, sheet the water. Use a slow steady stream of water out of the hose, and sheet it over the panel. The flow will remove most the water beads.

2) Dry windows first. Nothing is worse then water spots on windows... very hard to perfectly remove. I dry windows first to avoid this issue. Same could be said about metallic trim or certain types of metallic/fake metallic rims.

If it's direct sun, I'll wash and soap the shadowed sides first then the sunny side and reverse it when rinsing, constantly hosing the sunny part until it's time to dry. Then I use a CWB on the sunny part first, then the windows, then the rest of the car.

Although I prefer just using ONR you can put an on off on your hose and a cut piece of hose maybe 12" long. Wash the higher areas first and dry them. The water will sheet off with gentle straight steam. Once you are past the top surface the sides should be a breeze.
