Washing in freaking freezing weather

Hey Daniel,

Maybe the reason why some people don't take you very seriously when it comes to detailing as a profession is because you waste too much time responding to people questioning your age. Age should have nothing to do with someone's desire to detail cars for a profit.

Think about it, both myself and Jake, along with a couple of others took the time to reply directly to your inquiry. Instead of focusing on the positive information we supplied, you quickly tuned into the comments about your age. That may be the reason why so many people do not take you very seriously, when you continue to show them time and time again that you don't even take yourself seriously. In your case, maybe age is a problem.

Or maybe others should stop bringing his age up in the first place. I don't know what has gone on in other threads, but what I am aware of is that it wasn't the OP who injected age into this thread.

TS - I live in SoCal and though it doesn't get too cold here, I still need to bundle up some days during details. All I can add is this: Wear a beanie or hooded sweater. I recall hearing 50% of body heat is lost through the head so keeping it warm will help your body regulation. The idea of gloves on the hands is worthy too. Any part of you that gets wet in cold weather = potential cold or worse = can't detail.

to end this and to try to stop people from poking fun at me and telling me i cannot do this, i know that it is highly unlikely that this will happen. And if it doesnt happen i will have learned a heck of a lot (which i already have) about real estate and building a garage.

OK buddy I am going to poke fun at you for not thinking larger! Your grandfather sure thought really large at some point in his life and was on or over the edge by normal thinking of the time. I will PM you my speaker fee…j/k.

When I present at business seminars/meetings I use two examples of how the audience can Think Out of the BOX! Always discouraged by small minded supervisors and CEO’s. I encourage crazy ideas…sure some are just plan nuts but they get the creative juices flowing and all you are looking for is that nugget of an idea that could/can produce a desired result.

First idea/example is who is Bill Gates?

Well duh everybody knows he is now filthy rich and why? Because he thought out of the box and put together a bunch of plastic and electrical gizmos and created what – the computer. Then others who also think larger than most took this plastic box tried stuff, failed, pushed on and look at all the various applications now available. This plastic box has become a tool that has really changed how and why things are done in the world today. This tool is still evolving.

Second idea/example is who really pays attention to the sports section of any newspaper and why I scan it before going to the business section.

All coaches and players are hired to be fired. Everything that happens in the business world happens everyday in the sports section in print with fine detail [poor pun] on why we are hiring this coach or player and why we are firing this coach or player. Salaries are included along with benefits.

I personally like to read about coaches because they are the CEO of their team. How do they handle public relations, players, fans and the media because they are in charge/responsible unless the team is the Yankees! Learn from mistakes made by others and the sports section has all kinds of drama good and bad everyday.

Now to the poking fun at you part.

I don’t see a yacht in your plan [Palm Beach accessory] and where is the private plane – jet! Location of your future “vacation property?â€…blah, blah, blah.

You already have a game plan [business plan] for that future MBA that you can massage as needed to accomplish your current goals. I hope your goals get larger and wilder!

In summary thank others for expressing their opinion and always take the high ground…these actions/reactions will be noticed by others.

Al

LOL. Not sure good ol Al had anything to do with it either. Aside from that little mis-fact (he created Microsoft to use on the computers ;) by buying the idea off of Xerox that didn't see the potential in GUI based programs at the time) your message is a solid one that probably really should be followed to heart by.

Hmmm... great idea.. think bigger but there is only a problem with thinking bigger when there isnt enouph money. Anything that my grandfather bought was BIG to save money. HUGE things of toilet paper so he would never have to buy anymore (funny story short is he bought like a warehouse of toilet paper... the ceiling leaked and it molded....). I think that bigger at this stage of the game is a little out of the question. i am going to settle with one building and leave room for expansion (if in fact it happens, which it probably will not).

on my plans for when i become a rich man (probably not going to happen): I want to have a small house in palm beach with a big yard and a huge garage that has an underground level to make sure that a hurricane will not hurt my cars. Also, before i die i want to be the national champion in SCCA racing (specifically class SSC for my father). And if im good enough i want to race prototypes in rolex series.

Check your local Bass Pro sometime (if available) for water-proof gloves. I've been contemplating getting some for this particular reason. I work at my local Bass pro and I stop and check them out every time I walk by. They're not the wet-suit type, but are insulated, water-proof gloves. Bit pricey, but seems well worth it.

Even if you don't win just making the Runoffs is a major accomplishment. In any event have fun trying! :bigups I'm just a lowly Regional driver but just being on track pushing at 10/10ths is the time of my life, even in an old VW.

Best of luck with your business endeavours. In my area now is a good time to buy property.
