Wash solution before claying?

I am noob when it comes to detailing but have progressively learned a thing or two thanks to the great members here. :bigups

Which car shampoo would you recommend I use before I clay my car? My current shampoos at hand are DG901, Megs gold class, PB SS&W & Megs wash with wax (the yellow stuff). I don't mind purchasing a new shampoo if it will yield the best results. I've clayed my car after washing it with DG901 and it felt like my clay was covered in wax. My guess is the wash didn't remove any waxes prior to the wash. Would a Dawn mix help me out here?

My plan is to get the car ready for Ultima Paint Prep Plus Pre-wax Polish and Ultima Paint Guard Plus. Any help would be appreciated.

Just use any of those washes and add 3 to 4 ounces of all purpose cleaner to the mix.

Or you could use Chemical guys Citrus Wash N Gloss at a 1 oz to 1 gallon ratio.

I've also found that (if you have a pressure washer and the MTM Hydro or other foam cannon) that putting solution of CG CWnG at a dilution of 10 oz to 1 gallon in the soap reservoir will do the trick pretty quick.

Thanks. I typically use 3oz of DG901 in a 5gal bucket so 3oz of APC on top of that?

If you are trying to have your wash solution strip your LSP then yes. Just make sure you don't let it dry as APC can have some interesting effects on paint if it dries on.

Out of those listed I would reach for the DG or Meg's Gold Class. I would want to stay away from soaps that have added wax in them as you are trying to clean and strip.

Good catch, the extra wax in the soap didn't click for me :bigups

Thanks fellas for all your help. It'll be 70F this weekend so it'll be perfect weather for a wash/clay/polish. :)
