Whats the general opinion of the 5 gal. buckets with the tray at the bottom that lets the heavy dirt settle so it does not get on the sponge or brush your using to wash your vehicle. It sounds logical. I have seen them in Eastwoods catalog. Do any of the forum vendors offer these buckets or the trays that sit on the botom of the buckets? Also looking for suggestions on what type of brush I could use to wash my car. I have heard Hogs hair brushes will not scratch the finish. Any recommendations will be appreciated. One last question, are the 70/30 micro fiber towels more desirable than the 80/20?

Those Grit Guard things look pretty cool. I talked to the mfr at SEMA 2002. You can get the guards w/o the bucket if you just want something to drop into your own bucket(s). There might be a forum sponsor that sells them. Only one way for you to find out....
I don't know too many people here using a boar's hair brush. The folks that do use them seem to like them but a good brush is about $50 and that will buy you a lot of cotton chenille or lambswool wash mitts. Do a search for "boars hair" and see what comes up.
There was a bit of discussion not too long ago about microfiber content and which was "better". A search will turn up that thread. It was pretty interesting IIRC so its worth looking for.

I'm pretty much "Mr. Boar's Hair Brush fan" around here 
If you do the search Bret suggested, you'll find all my ravings about them. There ARE *SOME* paints that are too soft for them, and you'll get marring, but other than those rare cases, it's just a matter of technique. Cost-wise, I dunno, but I go through mitts sorta fast, while the brushes last for MANY years.
At least consider the brushes for wheels (the free-rinsing nature is perfect for this app.) and the smaller ones for nooks and crannies.
If you decide to try the brushes, make SURE to get ones that are 100% boar's hair, many also have nylon bristles :scared

I have Griot's Boar's Hair brush (short handle) for my rims. Love it. Been using it over a year and it still looks brand new. Extremely gentle and effective. I use a sheepskin wash mitt for the paint.

I created my own "ultimate wash bucket" from an old tall, narrow kitty litter pail. It is probably 10" square cross-section and has an overall height of 20". I like it 'cause it's tall and narrow. I have set gallon marks on the side of the bucket and usually add 2 gallons of water plus my preferred soap of the day. I did add a plastic screen at the bottom so sand, etc. will fall thru and the wash mitt never sits in any junk...it works quite well and is stable.
I recently saw a similar setup (perhaps in the rear of MotorTrend??) that was being sold for $22.
