Wash ALL MFs together?

Now that I have a large collection of detailing supplies, I've been wondering if I should wash my WalMart MFs (dirtier jobs like waxing wheels, bug/tar remover, carpet cleaner...) with my ExcelDetail MFs (used for claying, polishing, waxing, QDing only).

Should I wash them as separate loads, or can I wash them all as one load? I just don't like the thought of having bug/tar remover or carpet cleaner residue on my exterior detailing MFs.
 
I like to wash the cheapo MF's (used for doorjambs, wheels, etc.) separately from my "good" MF's. Like you I don’t like the idea of grease, tar remover, etc. in with my dry/polish/wax/QD MF’s.



An alternative may be to soak the dirtier ones in a bucket or sink with Dawn to get most of the grime out first.



I just did a load of MF’s today and washed the cheapo dirtier ones in the sink with dawn, rinsed well, then just hung them in the garage to dry. My good ones went in the washer with Micro-Restore, two rinse cycles, and a tumble dry on low heat. That’s what works for me….. JMHO
 
Paul, dont wash extremely dirty with somewhat dirty! Unless you have one of those $1,000 washing machines that perform miracles......Im with you, maybe a little less discriminate, but you really should keep the filthy ones seperated from others.....
 
OK. That's what I thought. I do rinse out the cheapo ones after I use them, but I know I can't get everything out of them.

I'll go out and get another dozen or two cheapo MFs so I can have a full load of those so I don't waste a bunch of water filling up the washing machine to wash 10 small MFs.
 
Depending on how dirty my grunge ones are I tend to wash them all together. If they are very very dirty I try and rinse them by hand before doing a whole load.
 
I hear always a good idea to wash glass mfs by themselves, never mix them with ones for QDing,polish etc because trace residue, if still intact, could cling to the glass mfs making it more difficult to get streak free glass
 
I wash all my mf's together....I wash them with a detergent made for mf with 2 rinse cycles and then I wash them again with vinager and 2 rinse cycles, they feel good as new.
 
TW85 HHI- Heh heh, I have one of those sorta exotic Calypso washers and no, with it you *cannot* manually adjust the water level. It uses whatever it thinks is best :o and I have no idea if it really uses a lot less water for small loads.



Yeah, just keep the really nasty-dirty ones separate and wash the others together. I've never had a problem from washing polish/wax/glass MFs together. I do wash my "slime product" (interior/leather dressing, ERV dressing, tire shine, etc.) towels at the laundermat though, just to be on the safe side. Sheesh, two washing machines/dryers and I'm still going to the laundermat :o
 
If they're not too dirty...i don't see the problem. if they're really dirty, i'd wash them seperate. But this is no different then washing all of the same kind of towel.
 
I have a small load to wash as well 1ww, 4buffing, 4detailing towels. Im probably in the wrong for doing this but im waiting to wash them until monday when ill have more and do them all at once.
 
Actually I'd qualify that amount to put in the washer now. The rest, if smaller, could be done by hand . I try to wash them ASAP when they get noticeably soiled. He he my hands are all pruny now from getting back from washing those 3 I mentioned :o
 
it hard to say im lazy from how well kept my car is but the only thing I clean by hand are my sonus buffing pads..im to lazy to give anyothers special attention
 
I felt guilty after Bill D spoke and now I have my load soaking, you should try that vinager idea Patrick it works really well.
