Warm water wash?

Hm... Anybody up for a test? :) I don't think I'll be able to do it because I'm going to be going through the winter soon (northeast), and I couldn't possibly use cold water. I remember the last time I used cold water when it was nearly freezing outside. I'll never forget that layer of ice that the cold water turned into within a few minutes :)

Warm is fine, but not hot or boiling hot. It won't harm the lsps either; In fact, I feel that lsp's love warm water baths....I do...lol :getdown

I use warm water in the winter because it helps melt the ice, and is nice on my hands.

But, if we can agree that hot water and car shampoo (detergent) is more effective at cleaning it may also reduce the effective term of the LSP. The question is whether the reduction is real and if so, is it enough to warrant any concern.

I don't want to argue the point, merely ponder the pros and cons of the warm water wash - the pro being that it is likely to be more effective at cleaning road grime, a con being that it may be effectively more harsh on some LSP's. ..

Not to worry, I don't take this discussion as an :argue It's another of those intellectual exercises (some might use a less flattering expression) where we're just hypothesizing, as actually experimenting to figure it out isn't too appealing :D

I suppose it's a matter of the threshold of significance (i.e., at what point does the wash temp really make a functional difference on the LSP in question) and then it's still a matter of weighing the pros and cons.

Another matter would be the detergent action on the LSP in general; some shampoos just don't seem to have an appreciable effect on some LSPS (e.g., Griot's Car Wash on KSG) while some others really do (e.g., Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo on most any carnauba). IMO changing the wash temp (within reason ;) ) won't have much effect on the extremes at either end, a matter of how significant each variable is with the water being "not very". Some shampoo/LSP combos in-between the extremes might be more affected by the temp changes than what I'm used to working with. Gee this is tempting me to say "so just wash with Griot's" :D

Since I'm a fanatic about wash-induced marring, I'll risk the warmer water compromising the LSP before I'll risk the colder water doing less effective cleaning, but that's *me* and *my* priorities.
