Want feedback on new website.

Very nice page!! One suggestion I have is adding more pictures to the 'outside vac' and 'inside vac' pages because it seems unbalanced having just two pictures at the very top, then nothing the rest of the way down. Otherwise, I really like the set up of the site and it's very neat looking and not sloppy. Again, very nice!

Nice site. You might want to review for spelling/typo errors, you have a few. Minus those, a very professional presentation, IMO.

Off topic, we will be pulling through Alamosa this Saturday on our way up through South Fork and points north. We generally stop by Snyder's to pick up some tasty goodies.

Next time you pose for photos...Don't wear a big old key set and don't wear jeans/a watch. Not nude. But it looks like if you were not careful for a second(that happens to everyone) you could scratch a ride.

I would also say that black is a bad background for a page. And the buttons are ugly...plus you have an extra one. Also there is a lot of clicking to get to one paragraph of information. If I were you I would make the opening page contain most information with links to directions and pictures and technique and stuff. Although someone can look at all the content of the site in a couple of minutes they have to click about 15 times to read 10 paragraphs worth of information.

It is good work...good for a project...but it needs more work. Just keep working on it...and try to make it less 3lite.

I was also looking at it a bit more. If you are going to list prices. I would list them at the top...I had to scroll down even with a 1600x1200 monitor. People could click right by it.

I noticed the keys / jeans thing as well. The typos I found were:

at the bottom of each page... last MOTIFIED

on the optional services button, under window detail ... POLLISHED and VEHICAL

Overall I liked it, but I would put some pics on the left hand side on the sub pages. There is too much open real estate when scrolling down the list of services. I liked the trampoline pic as well.

Ditto on all of the above, especially the black background. Best thing is you have real pictures in a generous size!

Nice site, but as before mentioned, it needs some work.

The buttons could be made a little less flashy and to say again, black is not the best of backgrounds. One of the major things I noticed is the scrolling. One thing I've learned while building web pages is that people don't like to scroll if they don't have to. Make better use of the space or make the font a bit smaller.

The banner/navigation part of the site is too big also. Try not to make it too much higher than 250 pixles.

But, you've already got half the battle, the content is good. Content makes the web page. Good luck to ya. (and you can check my site out if ya want *in my profile*)

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

First, the buttons are bad but he's working on them.

Good call on the keys, thanks!! ( Habit wearing them )

I need to keep the scrolling to a minimum.

Lots of typos. The project has to be done by July 8th but we will continue to update and refine the webpage.

Thanks again for your help. VAC

Casey, a student at Adams State College here in Alamosa, CO.

He's taking a class on bulding websites using Macromedia Dreamweaver.

I know my prices are a little lower then some but a full detail on a car usually runs $130.00 and up. If I lived in Denver like I used to, I would make about $200.00 and up for the same detail.

I will post pics of my shop, equipment , and supplies soon. VAC

I second that - I really, really hate sites that have a 'click to enter' page. At least yours loads quickly (I am on dial up), but it really bugs me to wait for a couple of minutes just to download some flash graphic that really tells me nothing about the site.

Exactly what is the point of the first page? :)

Hey Vac, nice web site. I have to agree with the majority of folks here regarding changes. You might consider a medium to light blue background which is more pleasing to the eye. The other typo I noticed was "schedule" under the contact us button.

Nevertheless, I like the web site :up ....Andrew

1. I'd Drop the splash page.

2. I'd change Outside / Inside to Exterior / Interior. When I first got there I wondering what kind of outside vacuum you were going to be offering :0

3. Decrease the font size of the itemized lists of what an outside list for example includes.

4. More pictures on the descripition pages.

5. Before / After pictures could really help. i.e. call it a clinic page and demonstrate before and afters (engine, interior, exterior)

6. Drop the short form for approximately: either spell it out or use ~.

7. Optional page, tighten up the layout a bit. Rather 2 sections (list and time), put it all in one.

8. Contact page: hyperlink your email address.

9. Directions page: The if you don't want to find us: consider rewording that statement to something, "We also provide pick-up services for those customer's that ...

Very nice start though

This is the designer of the site but please take in to minde it is not finished yet, yes the first page is going to go is was just placed there because I needed to name a page as my index page so the server could recognize it.

I only placed ithe site up there so VAC could get use out of his domain name and to make sure I had access to the server.

But thanks for your replies because of you I realized that I was desining it for my display settings of 1024x760 and many people use 800x600.

Also that the background I used is appearing as black on various peoples monitors instead of the one I used.

I don't expect the site to be compleatly done to my satisfaction for at least another month but when it is I would really appriciate your feedback as this is the first site I have ever designed.

Once again thanks for all of your feedback

Casey

Its ok but buttons are terrilbe and the Splash needs some work other than that the logo is pretty neat and unusual. Needs alot more pictures and more colors the site is just to plain and the graphics are overall very poor in terms of clearness and crisp resolutions.
