Wake Up...DC

This victim mentality has to stop. I thought the Republican were all about personal responsibility. Instead, they run and cry about bias when they are called out on anything.

Hey, wait, don't them there Demonrats do the exact same thing?

Palin made herself look bad. She couldn't even get through a fluff interview with Katie Couric. She was selected because of her ulra right wing views and ideology. She turned out to be woefully uninformed on both national and international issues. Add in her corruption and ethical issues and she was really not the fresh direction they marketed her as.

Palin scared the crap out of me. She was vastly unqualified for the job and the fact that she wanted to make the VP position more powerful scared me.

What's so bad about Palin? I'll admit I didn't follow the election enough to see how right-winged she truly is, but I couldn't give enough of a crap to care, I figure even if we speak our voice they're going to do what they want anyway.
I think Palin woulda' been a good VP, she's a real-world mother and I think this country could have benefited from that.

You've got to be kidding me?

She was the kiss of death for John...a maverick at best..do we want someone shot gunning from the VP position?

I am staying out of this for the most part

:rofl

If this is you staying out of it then I would love to see you get into it.

Seriously. You did bring up a good point when you mentioned the racial issue from both sides. It's sad but I'm sure there were quite a few people voting for him just because he is black and quite a few who voted against him for the same reason.

I won't mention names but here are some excellent reasons I personally have heard for voting. :notme:

Clinton was better looking.

McCain is too old.

Dole was a cripple.

Barrack is black.

Reagan was a good actor.

This is why all the dumb signs and advertising bugs me so much. It's sad knowing people are gonna vote based on the signs they see or the ads they have been bombarded with.

I say if your only conviction is "I do or don't want a black guy as President" or "That guy is too old", don't vote.

One more thing about Obama.

How can you trust a guy that won't even let you know where he was born?

I bet a lot of people made their decisions based on one-sided opinion. Be it talk radio, emails or whatever organization they belong to. They hear the accusations, but never look to verify if they are actually true.

In regards to the citizenship question; Do you honestly think that all of the Democratic Presidential candidates weren't thoroughly investigated by the neo-cons and the powers granted to them? It was a non-story that was latched onto by a desperate campaign.

Barrack is black.
That's one that gets to me, he's not. I have zero problem with a black president, I mean that sincerely. I do have a problem with Obama using this as a selling point to get votes. I wouldn't have this same reservation if it were for instance Bill Cosby saying this. For heck sake Obama's half white. In his entire campaign I never witnessed one piece of press that made reference to him being specifically Mulatto or White. I'm sure they were made and I missed them. I did see it said many times that he came from a mixed race couple but specifically when making reference to Obama's color, he was Black. I see this as divisiveness. That said, I looked for this next reference and only saw a few times where he was referred to as African American. I guess that isn't the best representation when going into an American election. The Black reference (which has been politically incorrect for some time now) was used much more frequently.

I'm not questioning his citizenship, I am questioning his ability to be up front and honest. Not that any politician is going to be, but it sure would be refreshing. Oops. Is my cynasism showing again? Sorry about that.

Sadly, the number one job of republicans at the moment is to insure that Obama is not successful. Of course, the Dem's were doing the same thing during Bush. The Bush administation proved to be the worst with Congress passing virtually every bill Bush wanted. The GOP is so embarrassed that Bush is in Carter country (the worst since Nixon).

How do we get beyond this?

It is ironic (and amusing) to hear a Bush supporter complain about a presidential candidate not being upfront and honest.

ok, i've stayed quiet long enough..

What exactly was Bush not up front or lied about?

If you say wmd+iraq........

Every country in the world "knew he had em".

Just not a whole lot of countries had the nads to go after em.

And just think, if the world had gotten Hitler in 1935-1937 there would not have been ww2. But appeasement was rampant. So taking out a dictator bent on domination is wrong? How?

I disagree! Totally! There was an enormous surge of energy after Palin was announced!!! On the other side of that, I have never seen such a buzz kill and I blame that on the Mccain Camp.

I guess it all depends on what you news source is.

I think Bush has gotten a bad rap. We all thought we would get hit again after 911. We have not. It's been 7 years. Say what you want about Bush, but he has kept us safe. And God bless our troops, whom I for one, am very glad to have on our side and we are proud of them!

Sheila just a couple things I picked up while reading:

Exit polls from MSNBC, CNN and Fox have shown that President-elect
Barack Obama received 78 percent of the Jewish vote in Tuesday's
presidential election. This is 4% more than John Kerry won in 2004
and 1% less than Al Gore received in 2000.

Obama received 54% of the Catholic vote and 45% of the Protestant
and other
Christian vote.

Many people do not realize that Barak Obama's first name is actually a
Hebrew name. Barak is Hebrew for lightning, though the origin of his
name is actually the same as Barukh (blessed).

You know, I really don't get why the Jewish leans to the left. I hope I am wrong about Obama's stance on Israel. Yes, and by the way, Obama has the most Liberal voting record in the Senate. Biden is third.

Talk about the latest wax or sealant and my wifey is quiet as a mouse. Start talking politics and she won't shut up.

Scott when I made the comment about being up front and honest if you will notice I included all politicians not just Obama. I think I have also made it clear that my support of Bush has regretably diminished over the years.

From my perspective, I would think we could have found better ways to deal with Suddam and actually gotten to Bin Laden without invading a country and starting a messy war. However all the soldiers that I have seen say they are glad they are there and the Iraq people are thankful. Propaganda? Posssibly.

"From my perspective" are the key words here. We will never know the Presidents true motives or intentions. We can trust in our news sources but that would be a bit naive too don't you think?

Obama anti-Israel? Obama named Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff. Pro-arab supporters have already complained due to Rahm's hardline support for Israel. I guess that put to rest any anti-Israel fears that the right was circulating to incite fear of Obama.

I keep hearing "left" and "socialist" but what do these really mean? Labels do not achieve anything to accomplish anything and I do not vote by party but the person. This is what scares me the most about some voters. They believe the other side is evil just because of the label of being a democrat or republican. These same people continue to re-elect pork barrel congressman (Byrd(D), Stevens(R), etc).

For example, the bailout bill proposed by Bush and supported by McCain was the single most socialist event since the Depression by getting the government into the ownership of banks. The republicans had a chance to accomplish something with control for 6 years but we did not get any tax reform (just cuts without spending cuts), reduced government spending, partisanship at home and abroad on every issue, and a nation building plan beyond what a "liberal" ever wanted. We propped up not so good guys (Pakistan) when it was convenient and chastised other at the same time.

Troy...I was thinking the same thing...I've not seen Sheila post this much ever!:D

My wife is the same with some subjects:huh:

funny that my wife never stops no matter the subject... and when she and Sheila got together :wow:me and Troy didn't have to say much at all :lol2:
