That is a rather pessimistic view. Obama got in because people liked what they heard. To say that Obama only got in because his supporters were against Bush is naive and insulting.
The term "partial birth abortion" was created to make a very rare procedure sound inflammatory. The facts are that this procedure is done only in cases where the mother's life is in danger or the baby is not viable. A little research will always trounce rhetoric.
Destroying the institute of marriage? How is this? he has already stated opposition to xxx marriage. With a 50% success rate, I never realized that the institute was perfectly healthy. I do disagree with Obama here. I don't feel that the government should impose their religious views to discriminate against a group of people with different beliefs.
What is wrong with his foreign policies? Just because he isn't a bomb/kill/shoot/invade first, talk later kind of guy?
I think the choice of words had more to do with the time of his post than anything else. How did you know that our enemies are glad to see him in? Did you take a survey? The current administration only increased the numbers of our enemies.
Please link me to his comments about his desire to stop showing favor to Israel.
I feel he and the policies had more to do with the current economy than the Republicans will ever admit. Between the massive deficit, a needless war and his policies of deregulation. his administration helped much of this.
This victim mentality has to stop. I thought the Republican were all about personal responsibility. Instead, they run and cry about bias when they are called out on anything.
Palin made herself look bad. She couldn't even get through a fluff interview with Katie Co uric. She was selected because of her Lura right wing views and ideology. She turned out to be woefully uninformed on both national and international issues. Add in her corruption and ethical issues and she was really not the fresh direction they marketed her as.
As far as the movie W goes, I didn't see it, nor do I plan to do so. I think the reaction to it was more of the victim-hood that plagues the right wing.
Plain scared the crap out of me. She was vastly unqualified for the job and the fact that she wanted to make the VP position more powerful scared me.
I have gather some facts about Partial Birth Abortion if anyone is interested, I would be happy to send that info. Basically, there is no good reason for this procedure. There are many doctors, nurses, etc who say this is actually a very dangerous procedure for the woman. My argument is...why? Many of these babies can thrive outside the womb! I don't understand it and when this was in the spotlight a decade ago, the majority of Americans were in an uproar about it.

"But Obama's record on abortion is extreme. He opposed the ban on partial-birth abortion -- a practice a fellow Democrat,
the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan, once called "too close to infanticide."
Obama strongly criticized the Supreme Court decision upholding the partial-birth ban.
In the Illinois state Senate, he opposed a bill similar to the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act,
which prevents the killing of infants mistakenly left alive by abortion.
And now Obama has oddly claimed that he would not want his daughters to be "punished with a baby"
because of a crisis pregnancy -- hardly a welcoming attitude toward new life."
As far as xxx Marriage...Biden said 2 weeks ago on the Ellen Degeneres's show (even though he said differently during the VP debate) that they were for xxx marriage and support any effort (in California) to legalize it. I am not saying he is trying to destroy marriage. And I am back away from this.
As far as Palin....I don't get the "no experience " argument. She led a town. She leads a State. And she is a mother of 5 children!!!:bow What executive experience does Obama have?? What laws has he helped write? I have the impression he has spent most of his three years in the Senate working on his plans for a Presidential race.
Obama has several questionable ties (the one's we know of, anyway) but for the sake of time, I will only mention professor Rashid Khalidi, because it answers the Israel question. He is Professor in Chicago (?) who supports Palestine terror and is very anti Israel. Hey, I hope I am wrong about this too. Only time will tell. I will not support anyone who is not pro Israel. Sorry if that offends anyone. We have a heart for Israel in this family. We love the Jewish people and we love the Arabs too. Can we just all get along:surrender
I am very concerned and could easily get into a depression over this election, because I think Obama has Socialistic tendencies (redistribution on wealth) and I wholeheartedly disagree with him on many social issues. All I can say is that I will respect the Office of the Presidency and hope that he will not govern his far left beliefs! Thanks for sharing, Scott. We like an open forum.
I do want to say something about your comments of Republicans having a "victim mentality".
The main stream media has it out for the Republican party. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that. So they are victims. Very little disrespect was shown to Obama or Biden and there was an onslaught of disrespect to both Palin and McCain. Are they capable of bashing the democrats? Yes and they do now and then but it is far from equal.
It is for my wife.Snow blower? Why would you need one of those? When I was visiting back home a couple weeks ago, I saw my snow blower in my father's barn. I do somewhat miss using that puppy. It was a new Toro and would blow the snow wicked high or far. When it was delivered, my wife commented "That's a lot bigger than the ones we looked at in the store." I smiled and grunted a little bit. I then proceeded to toss a couple coats of wax on it.
Again, I am not for any law that discriminates against a group of people that carry different beliefs.
It is for my wife.
If you would like to use it, stop by when we have about 6" of snow and I will even start it for you. :bigups
Like a lot of our stuff, it is about 30+ years old, but still does the job.
Addendum: Old Iowa joke. (Probably common in most cold climates)
Man tells wife they is going to move South.
Wife says where?
Man says he will strap a snow shovel on the front of his car and when someone asks him what the heck that's for, that's where we stop.
So far, an interesting discussion, but as with all political discussions, it would be easy for it to get out of hand.
It is funny how each side can distort facts to benefit themselves or put fear into people ...IMO ..GW and his administration has used 9/11 to foster fear and raise the alert to hide their ineptness of their policies.. with one of the all time lowest ratings of any President in history, I think the American people have seen this too..:notme:
1. The election is over, the choice has been made.
As McCain said..the people have made it clear what they want...
2. Whether we like it or don't like it, we really need to try to make it work.
Exactly whether we like it or not ... neither would have been my first choice
3. As mentioned in another thread, it will be good to be free from all the negativity in the campaigning.
:bow:bow:bow:bow:bow:bow:bow
4. All the rhetoric will be history shortly, and the actions taken will tell us if the right choice was made.
How true :inspector:
5. It's been working great for me so far.
Gas is down to $1.81 here and seems to be coming down a little every day. (Yes, I know that will probably change, but let me enjoy it while I can.
Go for it Charles.. just let them know about it around here as it hasn't gotten that cheap here
My Social Security check is going up 5.8% soon and I will have more disposable income.

Either I didn't make myself clear or you didn't understand what I meant.Six inches of snow? That's it? I come Rochester, NY. There were days we'd wake up to 15 inches of the stuff...and still go to work.

Where in Rochester? I lived in Victor for 4 years. Wife grew up in Fairport.
