Waiting period for Click & Brag?

I'm not just talking about the pictures, the whole post isn't up yet. I think it may of said something about a moderator has to approve the post 1st, but that screen flashed too quick for me to read.

Slick71ss how many post did you have when it finally worked? I can't get my thread to show up even after 10 posts. O well.

Yeah, me too - I had it eat a post it took me two hours to do, including choosing and editing the pics. I knew about the 10 post deal, but I have two posts that both show "10 posts" for me, so I figured I must have ten. Members get hammered so that they can keep non sponsors off the site or something I guess. Seems to me it would work better if members hit the alert button when they see spam, and then a mod could delete it. If the members don't mind, then what's the diff?

Whatever, this is just a test post anyhow, to see if I can post pics yet :D

That's what we were doing before, and there were days we just couldn't keep up. I don't think you understand just how much spam we deal with, and how much spam that most members never see because the moderators get there first. This new post filter is an attempt to lighten our workload . . . it was instituted only a couple of weeks ago, and we're still working out the gremlins. Sorry for the inconvenience, but once we get it squared away, it should save the mod crew a lot of hassles. It almost completely does away with "hit-and-run" spammers that post once and are never seen again, and that has been the bulk of the posts that we have edit or delete.

For refererence, over 500 spammers have been banned just since the last database reload. For each spam post we locate, we edit or delete the commercial content, then logon to the moderator control panel, look up the user in the database, and apply the ban. Sure, it only takes two or three minutes, but it gets to be a real annoyance when you do it over, and over, and over . . .

Thanks for bearing with us,

BTW, yes you can post pics now, and that hood looks a mile deep. :up

Get yourself over to Click and Brag and post more, if you haven't already.

Hi Tort,

Thanks for the response. With the growth of the web, the life of a forum mod is a lot different than when I first went online. At the forums I frequent they all seem to be overworked now, and with little recognition to boot.

I've literally not seen overt spam (of the hit and run variety) here, but I don't read every thread in every forum, and like you say, the mods get a lot of it before we see it. I hope you guys are planning some sort of message to inform new users why their post isn't going through though. I can find little info on this policy, and actually have no clue what the limitation is precisely.

That hood is a '00 Si that never saw anything but tunnel washes for at least 4 years. My post was going over the history of the car, my intro to Autopia, what I'd done and what I plan to do, as well as things I'd learned that surprised me. But I'd just washed it and the light was late and nice, so I was motivated to take some pics, then go inspired to post. Maybe next time I wash it I'll get reinspired LOL.

Thanks for all your and the other mods efforts, I know it's not an easy job.
