waffle weave towels....what my problem?

Interesting problem

Currently using Pakshak and Paradise MF's and have done so for a year or two without a problem

Now I have started to blot black cars and use four drying towels per car just incase some grit gets in there

When I slide across surface, I do it with towel folded twice, very slowly and extremely lightly

I also turn towel over and then re fold after each panel or two.

Takes time but boy it makes a difference

My oldest towels I am still using, washed with dynamo free liquid Laundry stuff on warm, gentle cycle and double rinse

Got a dark blue metallic and so far no marring, just tiny swirls from the last two years.

toyotaguy, I feel for you. Its so frustrating getting bad results from something everyone else raves about...especially when it hurts the customer, and your business.

All I can say is to repeat Accumulator's comment on not giving up on WWs. For the record, I use Pakshak WW exclusively (after trying others). I've used them for a year now on my metallic red Camry. I'm proud to say that after a year of washing and drying (with Pakshak WW) I have practically zero marring...except from over-friendly shopping carts!

The only things I could suggest as probable causes have mostly been mentioned above, but I'll repeat them:

Liquid detergent wash only (1/4 recommended dose...WWs don't get dirty enough to justify more...just causes problems).

Warm/Hot water wash temperature.

Hot water rinse.

White vinegar in rinse.

Periodic hot water wash with no detergent.

Pristine clean covered storage.

No pressure on paint when drying...preferably blotting, final light buff with fluffy MF.

Remember, WWs must feel fluffy and soft to touch. Sometimes my washing technique causes them to feel a bit rough...probably detergent residue, even after much care. That's when I find a hot water wash with no detergent restores the softness.

I hope this helps. :D

alfisti, i'll take your advise and that of others and wash all my towels right now with no detergent and a little vinegar in the rinse cycle and see what that does for them....because they feel sort of stiff after about 40 washes only!

Hey toyotaguy, do you wash ALL your microfibers together? If you do, that could be a possible cause. Other than that, maybe it's just the WWs you have that are scratching. I would purchase one more before you totally throw the idea of using WWs out the door.

Your towels are only as good as you care for them.

Good point, Denzil. Wash WWs separate from MF that's been used for polishes and waxes.

These other MF require a more aggressive wash to remove the abrasives, contaminants, waxes, solvents, and others rubbish. They can easily lodge in the WW fibres and cause problems.
