well, just spent 20 minutes catching and hauling out a mouse in the kitchen.

it had spent most of the day in the basement hiding from the cats. 3 cats! they finally earned their MeowMIx!!

now - how did it get in and where are it's little friends?
ugh

That's the thing about mice, they can get through an opening the size of your pinkie. I used to work in a grocery store as a kid. Unfortunately a food store is prime real estate for mice. I'm sure your grocer (purveyor of consumable goods) would rather you didn't know that. In my experience it's reasonable to expect that if there is one mouse there are at least two. Set up a few traps close to the walls and in corners, close to pantry's and cupboards that have food in them. Make sure the traps are out of reach of your cats. Sooner or later the mice will find the peanut butter. It works better than cheese and won't dry out as quickly. Some of PoorBoys fruity smelling polishes/waxes may work well also. :D

Years ago I had my share of dealing with mice, if I were you I would find the points of entry to your house (from outside) and block them as best as you can ,then put traps near the walls behind something to block them from viewing ,remember they like to munch in a quiet, dark ,safe areas.
If you have garage ,that's a good place to start ,by adding poison in all 4 corners of your garage,IMO you should poison the buggers before they find the need to enter to your house in search of food.:)

agreed, but my owner doesn't believe in poisoning, hence the reason we "trapped and released" the little bugger! they've apparently set up housekeeping in the garage - over the last 2 years i would see occasional evidence of their presence. i'd clean it up and they wouldn't come back for months.
well, bout a week ago i spotted one scurrying out of the corner while i was grilling dinner - the bugger went under the car and that was the last i saw until yesterday.

we'll be cleaning the garage today! (i'll buy and set the traps when no one is looking...)
