Vroom?!

VROOM is the new private label program - same suppliers as last year but different packaging.

Rubbermaid took over the brushes.

The Rubbermaid pails and detail caddies look awesome. Real strong and durable. I tried breaking one and ripping the caster off the bucket and I couldn't do it :p

They have a 5 gallon pail on casters with a built in grit guard :up

It looks like Target only wants to sell the 'Vroom' brand of car products. Since I don't want to be a guinea pig I won't be doing much buying at Target. I'd rather stick to products that are known to be good.

I went to my local Target to buy a chenille wash mitt and was shocked to find the usual section for car products to be totally bare. Instead there was a display of products..all "Vroom" products in another section.

I had never heard of Vroom and figured it was Target's "in house brand". I found that to be a turn-off because I find that's usually synonymous with "Save money but not high quality". I don't mind paying a few extra bucks for a quality product and my initial reaction is that Target (like Walmart, which also sells only in house products in my area as well) isn't aiming for people like me, but rather those who are more budget minded.

I wasn't impressed with Vroom's chenille mitts. They didn't seem to be 100% cotton and there was no indication on the package that they were. The strands seemed thin and pulled out easily. There weren't any sheepskin mitts so I passed and went to Pep Boys where I bought a Turtle Wax brand.

If Target was stocking it's shelves with known quality products such as Meguiars they would've had a devoted customer in me. I simply don't trust in-house brands because I don't know who they are aiming at, people like myself who are very particular about their cars or the 99% of the people out there who regularly run their cars through automatic car washes.

So if I go OTC I generally buy at Pep Boys or the local motorsports store or I buy online.

Both of the Target stores that I frequent carry Meguiar's along with Turtle Wax, Vroom, and some other brands. But, judging by the products that they DO carry, I would say that they are targeting the 99% of people who aren't Autopians. I do like thier packaging though. :)

I've liked the Baja Sol sheepskin mitts in the past, so I'll probably get the new Vroom one.

Their microfiber bundles look like a good value to get for those really dirty jobs that I don't want to use a good towel on. They are cheap enought that they are practially throw-aways. They would also be great to use around the house for cleaning up and drying dishes. That's what I use my cheap wal-mart towels for.
