And today I am 55 years old. I am a member of this forum even though I live a long way away from most of you and speak a different language - I speak English. I live in the highlands of Scotland and I love my car just as much as you guys.



But the journey from there to here seems so long. I was born in 1946 in London, bomb sites everywhere, we grew up thinking that houses came in halves.



This may not be a great thread - or even an important thread, but I just wanted to say that I am still here and I see you guys across the water as my brothers and sisters. The pain you had lately I shared.



I hope to live a bit longer, I know you do too. So thanks for being there and remember, we are as always, one.

it was extremely moving to see some GB's feeling grief over our tragedies



congratulations on having another birthday, its good for you to remind us that we can't take life forgranted. i'm sure we all wish that we can grow old and still have the heart to continue detailing (not saying that you're old) you know what I mean :)

ZV, I LOVE steak. My favorite is a medium porterhouse T-bone

(pre-cook weight 32-40 oz.) with some nice steamed potatos on the side(I have either one big one, or 4 of those plam sized ones.) And for a beverage, soda. Can't wait till I'm 21 to try a nice brew with that meal, ok, ok, I tried it already. I loved it.



I'll stop my rambling and get back to my homework at 1:45 in the AM.

Thank you for your sympathetic words. Events like this show us that man is basically good. The tormented souls who seek to harm others are a very small minority. Events like this show us that we are all part of the human family.



Ray, thanks for your thoughts reminding us of these facts.

As unspeakably horrible as this tragedy was, it has made me realize how wonderful it is for all Americans to pull together and actually feel like a whole nation. Not to mention... I have seen the entire world pull together for our nation and that not only makes me proud to live in this great country, but proud to be a tiny part of a generous and loving human race.



Don't worry... you may speak only English now, but you'll soon learn Autopian quickly enough.

Well the warm red wine feeling has worn off now, the day after the day before, but another warmer and more important feeling lives on and it make me proud to be British.



In our culture we have old stories of freedom and justice. Legends of King Arthur and the Round Table, Robin Hood and others. Not superheroes, but people who put justice and fairness and freedom before everything else. Their legends reflect the people for these feelings burn within us all.



In our revolution - our civil war - we forever denied the right of kings to rule us and we created a parliament. Democracy. We lit a flame that today burns in the hearts of the people of hundreds of nations around the world.



There will always be those who want to deny our freedoms - our right to think for ourselves. There will always be those who want to impose their dogmas upon us. And they will attacks us for because we are free we are always vulnerable.



But that is why Britain stands together with the United States in their time of pain, because an attack on your freedom is an attack upon ours.



We lit that flame hundreds of years ago. We are not about to see it put out now or ever.



I remember the pain we suffered, our cities smashed and our homes and friends broken and gone. What we did was sang. We sang songs around a campfire on the bomb devastated areas of our childhood and we swore that whatever it takes, we will stand for freedom, justice and democracy even if it costs us our lives.

I turned 40 this year, and 55 is certainly another one of those landmark birthdays. Congrats!



The vast majority of Americans hold a special place in our hearts for the good ol' UK. I knew you guys would be our staunchest allies, as you would know we would be yours. Thanks.



If it wasn't for the valiant way Great Britain stood up to the Nazi's, our politicians here possibly would not have got off their behinds in time to help you. That Churchill was something else. One of my personal heros.



What was that famous quote of his? I think it went something like this. Sir Winston was at a social event and was, as time wore on, a bit tipsy. A woman walked up to him and said "Mr. Churchill, you are drunk!" He replied, "Indeed I am, ma'am. However, in the morning I shall be sober but I'm afraid you will still be ugly." Classic.



By the way, what's up with the many of the French anyway? They really seem to dislike us. Is it because we can't even speak English correctly?
