Volkswagen/Audi owners: What wax do you use?

I have a silverstone grey 2001 1/2 Passat & found that Zaino is just incredible. Very durable, great shine. In the fall I usually get about 5 layers on before winter sets in, then I use Mother's paste wax as a topper. (I find the Zaino set up time is too long in cold weather in my unheated garage). Mother's has a good shine, & is fairly durable & easy to use if you make sure not to go too heavy. My only complaint with the Mother's paste wax is the white haze I get on black textured trim; be careful!

Switch to S100 (aka P21S but available at Harley dealers). Only a few dollars more than Mothers, no white haze and it's wipe on, wipe off. Looks great on silver, as you can see:

I got an amazing black Audi 1.8T

Is it chipped?

Nice front spoiler. No chrome or chrome plastic mirrors though? Xenon lights. Daddy like.

Where did you get the front spoiler?

Nide Audi though

Looks great but here is my question about topping P21S/S100 over Zaino. What do you do for the wash and QD? Since Z7 wash and Z6 QD are meant to be used to enhance the Z2 shine as part of a system, I take this to mean that you won't get the same refreshed just detailed look results if you used them on the S100 topper. Would P21S bodywork shampoo and a QD with carnauba such as Pinnacle Crystal Mist be a better option than Z7 and Z6 then?

Brad B.,

What do you use to remove swirls? Under "synthetic" light your car looks awesome.

Kev

Thanks! I have never had swirls on the S4, ever. Careful maintenence with MF towels, and Waffleweave drying towels, foam applicators for Zaino, have made the difference. I wash at least once weekly and QD w/ Z6 several times a week. The odd scratch is removed with 3M Finesse It, followed by 3M Swirl Mark Remover for Light cars. I use a PC Yellow and White pads.

The grille is a Euro RS4 model.

curently use S100, love it:bow fantastic shine on my Ref Silver Golf! just the ease of application is a selling point! i also have 3M IHG for shows

After trying nearly every product I had settled on Griots wash, polishing compound and wax, with any pre cleaner thrown in.

That is until I research Zaino and Klasse here on this site..

Tried Klasse AIO and SG last fall on the Passat 4Mo, followed directions to the letter with some of the advice given here and the results were spectacular, but, its, just different, too easy maybe. And not to mention that I have a fortune in buffers-pc and a Cyclo- and pads, which I may never need again. If my wifes car still looks good in the spring I'll use it on my beloved Jetta wagon TDI.

Deepest shine yet was with VW polish/wax - also have had good luck with The Wax Shop Super Glaze - I've found both of these to be as good as any of the "high end" waxes. '03 VW Beetle Turbo S :xyxthumbs

VW/Audi's I've done (mine and family/friend's): Silver Audi S8- BFI, BFII; Silver Audi A8- Pinnacle Creme Glaz + 3M Showcar Paste; Silver A6- KAIO + KSG; Silver (notice a trend here?) A6- Autoglym SRP + Collinite 476 ; Pearl white Audi V8 PCG + Meg #16. White VW Quantum- SRP + Souveran.

All looked good/great, but quite different. I probably like the look of BF or those with wax toppers best. I liked Souveran on the white VW better than PPG.

RJJ-Aha! Another Cyclo (and Griot's Car Wash) user :xyxthumbs . You can still use it for AIO and for removing SG with microfiber bonnets (esp. "suede" ones from TOL). Gonna do a Cyclo post one of these days, I love those things.

On my 01 GTI VR6 I used Zymol HD-Cleanse and Carbon wax, and I did the same on my 01 Jetta 1.8T.

Everyone talks about P21s and so on, but I have never had a complaint about Zymol, so I see no reason to switch.

Since we're showing pictures, I may as well too. :p

That's with the hood half open, if it looks a little bit weird.

And of course now that car is in the body shop cause some young girl who can't drive backed into the side of the car. :(

S100 SEPC and S100 wax on my 2003 Silverstone Passat. Combo can't be beat. Like it a lot better over Zaino (which i used earlier). I don't have to worry about durability since I wash/wax it every week.

Accumulator, the Cyclo is a (cult?) tool that you don't hear much about, what would make it perfect is a speed control; its a bit too fast to apply liquids but great for buffing as is. Groits car wash has to be the best wash on the market, a gallon easily lasts me a year and I wash alot.

I'll give your suggestion consideration, what/where is TOL?

RJJ-Yeah, you don't hear much about Cyclos on this forum (yet :D ). And "cult tool" is right! I've been wondering just what the (head) speed really is. I can't find my manual so I e-mailed Cyclo for the info. I suppose one could plug it into one of those speed-control gadgets, but with the Cyclo's shortish cord it would be pretty improvised. I don't really mind it being so fast (sometimes wish it would go even FASTER), but that's just me. A speed control WOULD be nice, but I if they raised the price any more I doubt they'd sell ANY of them!

Pinnacle CG or Autoglym SRP or AOI+Cyclo=:xyxthumbs

I tried Griot's wax but I am SO much happier with others that I finally gave it away. I know it wins shows, but I didn't like it (and I'm a pretty big Griot's fan).

TOL is Top of the Line. A detailing supply company in Louisiana. Run by a woman named Irene Bernardo. Let's see if this works:

Or call (501) 638-8007

They also have yellow (cutting) pads for the Cyclo that work well.

Tnks for info I'll look into the company.

Have not tried the wax you are using but from the ones I have used Griot's Best of Show is the best. It appears that some here are using a wax over both Klasse and Zaino and this weekend I plan on searching this site to determine the reasoning and results its, interesting.

Regards

Ralph

Playa178- Sharp VW :xyxthumbs Nice to see someone else using Pinnacle CG.

RJJ- I'll do something rare for me and continue my bash of Griot's wax. I just NEVER seem knock his stuff so I'll go overboard on recommending you try a different wax :p

Do your research and see what you think you'd like to try. If you want to try some Pinnacle CG really cheap, let me know. I have more than I'll EVER use and I'd be glad to help out a fellow Cyclo user (I put the CG on with the white pads).

I myself think the wax-over-synthetic usually looks better on Audis than either by itself. I'm still trying to decide if I REALLY like BFII. I park the silver S8 and A8 side-by-side all the time and I'm STILL not sure which look I prefer or why. BFII sometimes seems darker, though.
