volk wheels are "cloudy" please help!!

I have volk weels on my car after i wash them polish ect the lip seems to be a little cloudy what can i do/use to fix this and get them looking new again and hiding/filling in little scratches in them

im running Volks too



just an FYI if u didnt know, but they clear coat their lips, so dont use a metal polish!



given they are cleared, you should be able to use an abbrassive polish, id go something very mild like Menzerna Final Polish



i just use an AIO (Polylack) and the Polylack Sealant every few months. Cleans them up really well. In between im using OCW to keep them shiny

Great tips on what to use on the Volks. I have a set of GTC's as well and yes they are actually anodized. 3fiddyz, from one SB owner to another your Z is beautiful.. :woohoo:
 
I need to take better care of my LE28N's My polished lip is nowhere near as shiney as yours 3fiddyz. I'm not even sure if I can get it to look like that again. I don't have any better pics at the moment, but compared to yours this is how dull my lip looks. It's never been polished with anything so far.

BlackElantra, try using an AIO, the Klasse will work fine - see how it goes



Pats love the wheel choice. I spent many months deciding which Volks to go for, and the GT-Cs were considered. If i wasnt selling my car, id switch to a set of gold GT-S

Most of the times, when I see cloudy annodized wheels, it is usually do to them being improperly cleaned by a chemical. Although annodizing has many benefits, their biggest downfall IMHO is they are very finicky. I only use soap and water to clean my wheels and occasionally a PH balanced wheel shampoo. Anything acidic or basic will damage the lips! The only cure for the lips will be a complete professional repolish. WIth true 2 piece wheels that come apart, it is a fairly simple process buit with welded 2 piece, it's a PITA. I few of my buddies have gotten their volks polished and the lips came out better than chrome! Only problem is that now they have to maintain it!

Yes, that's the combined weight of wheels and tires.



My wheels are 17x7.5 wearing 215/45-17 Falken. The Falkens weigh 20.8 lbs and the readings are a bit off because I used my digital bathroom scale and to keep the wheels from rolling off I had to apply a little pressure. Otherwise, the wheels should weigh less than 14 lbs.

yeh i do only use body shampoo or the QEW, and some cotton ear buds for the bolt holes and in bw dish and spoke where the sponge cant reach



i wouldnt use a wheel cleaner, not even Meguairs even though it says non-acidic. If you wash your wheels once a week, you shouldnt have let the brake dust cake on to need any acidic cleaner



i always give my wheels an MF wipe down after spraying the tyre spray so the brake dust doesnt stick



ive got mates with non-clear coated polished wheels and they sit there after every wash with the metal polish, and its takes ages to get them scratch free



if i ever bought non-cleared wheels, id have them cleared before fitting
 
I have some 6 year old Racing Hart wheels that have anodized lips and I use one of Meguiar's discontinued cleaners on it. Citri-Gel is what it's called and I collect it JUST for wheels that are anodized.:D:D Right now have about 11 undiluted gallons.:o
