Victoria Collectors Wax - Observations

I just wanted to post for everyone the 'issue' I am running into with VC wax. While the wax does look great, very warm, without much gloss. The other day I went outside to wash pollen/light sap off of the car. Normal spring-time in NE type stuff.



Well, I used 1Z Glanze last year, and expected it to be similar. However, I was severly mistaken! The VC wax after being washed with Adams Car wash, and a australian wool mit with two bucket method was just pathetic. It would not clean up and sheet water the way it should if it had released the tree sap that was on top of the wax. So instead of it sheeting water nicely, it just continued to have the dollops of water sitting in pools of tree sap.



I had to go from the wool mit, to the MF and apply the wash 3-4 x to get any good 'sheeting'. I then decided this wax was not good for a DD and applied a layer of 1z Glanz, as the one panel that did have 1z Glanz, cleaned up with one application of wool mit and 1 application of MF washing.



Just wanted to post my feedback, as LSP selection is at the front of everyones mind right now.
 
I am very at a mist with what you had to say. We didn't think there was ever a problem with our product. Collectors is a very easy product to use, more so than Concours Red which is a little harder to use. I have never seen anything of what you are talking about except if an individual doesn't do proper preparation first. Please feel free to return you product for a full refund.
 
i used victoria red and ican say this best carnuba wax , nothing like victoria

high quality product ...worth the price !!

David which better in light colour red or yellow vics ?

what about new vics mayhem & chaos ? anygood news ....date realse?

Not David, but I do have Victoria Red wax. The red wax will look better on darker than on lighter colors. In my experience.



According to his website.. About the Red wax. This wax has one of the highest amounts of real wax content used in the industry and is absolutely stunning on black, deep red and darker paintwork.

Hi, the author of this thread, Ian did contact us a few days later and we exchanged some thoughts. The problem was worse than had been first explained in this thread. Unfortunately, we just could not figure out what was happening. I guess, just sometimes things just can't be explained. The following is the best that we could come up with.



Hi Ian, I wish I could tell you exactly what is happening here but I am at a loss. We have had 3 incidents that sound close to what you have described and I will relate them to you. 1st, a person was unable to get a uniform look by doing just normal detailing and it was pointed out that the person parked under the 'L' system that spewed out small spots of contaminates because of being an older transit system. We could not do anything for that person and recommended using a synthetic silicone product with a high solvent ratio for better results. 2nd, a person used the Bellingham airport and would leave his car at their parking facilities which was off to the side of the take-off runway. With hundreds of take-offs and landings a day the car was covered with an almost plastic like substance. We recommended covering up the car while being in the parking area. 3rd, on a hot August day the Corvette club put on a huge outing under the Fir or Spruce trees on the Parliament building site in Victoria. It was so hot that the trees covered every car with a fine mist sap. Nothing missed being covered inside and out. What a mess that was at the end of the day. We could only look on in horror.



The sap droplet that you are getting will only enlarge once the temperatures rises. Tree sap in many areas will if left to dry on its own will etch your car's finish if not removed quickly. Just maybe a carnauba based product is not a good idea and the use of a sealant would be 'as you suggested' the right way of handling this problem. In recent months the 1Z products have been reformulated to comply with many of the tough regulations adopted by many states to be more safer. It would be interesting to know if the products you have are new or the older version. Many companies still sell their older versions, but not in the United States, just in Countries that have no regulations regarding high solvent (VOC) dangers. With the sap contamination being as bad as you describe a sealant with a high solvent level and using a silicone and polymer bases would be the best you can offer your car. The surface will be slick due to the silicone / polymer base and nothing should stick to it if removed quickly.



Carnauba and most sealants are two different bases. One is a temporary shield that has to be replaced regularly, more so in the summertime. And the other is more of a long term layer of almost paint like quality which should last through one summer and a winter. For many car people they use a combination of both because we just can't leave our cars alone. David



This is for maxi, is it true you wax your cars in 46 degree Celsius / 115 degree Fahrenheit temperature? I only ask because I would be a puddle of water if I tried that. Also, how do you store your car care products in that heat? On a few of the hot days we get in Canada I have had to clean up a few burst bottles and leaking jars accidentally stored in the trunk.



'what about new vics mayhem & chaos ? anygood news ....date realse?' They are a dealer generated product and a handful of dealers are in the final testing. What is left to decide is super soft, soft, firm or hard texture. One texture doesn't fit all.

truly, yes 46 degree ...i keep my waxes in cold room in house:)

now the weather is fine 32-26 :LOLOL
