OK, so I have heard that newer Vettes are incredibly hard to polish...........So the question is asked to those of you who have detailed a few of them, whats your best kept secret(s)?

Cyclo and OHC for me. Orange Cyclo cutting pads and the old version of OHC and heavy pressure took out 95% of the swirls out of the last one I did and still left a nearly LSP ready finish. Corvette clear is at least as hard as Spies-Hecker and CeramiClear paints. :nervous2:

I think it really depends on the condition of the finish/amount of correction needed and the color of the car. There's combos I like using for black that I wouldn't use on silver, white or yelllow. I try to stay away from using wool pads unless it's mandatory.

Take for instance a Millenium Yellow '01' vette, paint in pretty good shape but not perfect,(autopia) what route would you take?

Hi Patrick,

Since I have lived with (still have the 04 Z06) 2 C5's over the last few years my experience states that Meg Heavy Cut for any deeper blemishes with a Meg's burgundy cutting pad, followed by Menzerna IP with yellow cutting pad (meg or LC) and finishing with Zaino-PC Fusion using a polishing pad. This regimen is for PC usage @ 6 opm, moderate pressure and as stated earlier ... Patience.

Rotary usage just IP and Z-PC.

Using Z-PC and PC only.

I'd use Auto Magic (AM) GS-1 with a yellow foam cutting pad to level the paint and then AM BC-2 with a blue foam final finishing pad then AM Awsome Gloss or AM Banana Magic with a PC. Works really good on light colors.

I use HTEC/OP mix with a yellow pad, then 106ff with a green or white pad pad. All done with a rotary of course.
