Very neglected VW (water spots)

This is my brother's in law VW Gol. As you can see in the pics there are a lot of water spots and/or oxidation in the paint. And water spots in the windshield. What should I do? Any suggestions are very welcome.

Wash the car with a car wash shampoo not dishwashing detergent. While the car is still wet, but out of direct sun try using distilled white vinegar on the painted surfaces and windshield. Don't just pore it on, but rub it over the water spots. You can use gloves but I just used my bare hand. Then re-rinse the car, dry it and look at the area in question to see if there has been improvement.

4DSC: there are not many products available but a friend of mine who lives in USA can send the products to me. It would not be a problem.

Pecs: after that, don't you think I would have to polish the paint?

Lucky you! :xyxthumbs I suppose before trying to polish them out, do what Pecs said and determine if these are just mineral deposits sitting on the paint, or if it has etched/oxidized into the paint. Often they're dealt with using a moderate strength polish, and a few people have used 3M Medium Strength Oxidation Remover Wax. Do a search on all this stuff to decide. I've also been told that sometimes the etching is so deep that it can't be fixed...

My my... Those are common sights here in our place as well...

For the glass, I doubt it if vinegar would work... they seemed etched already... Give it a shot, but don't expect miracles... I'd go straight to a glass polish instead... Try Autoglym or Pylon Strip-It (look for a review in the Review section)...

As for the paint, like what Brian suggested, 3M MOR will work great, even by hand... but judging from the pic, it may take several applications... Using a machine will be better, if you're going to do it by hand, use a terry towel with a little distilled water + MOR to clean the paint.

hey what part of Ecuador are you in?

I lived in Cuenca for 6 months back in 1993 with a host family!!!
