VERY disappointed in first use of the Gilmour Foamaster..

When using the soap at full strength will it remove some LSP?
 
also to add if it wasn't already mentioned, make sure the little brass screws which are located on the top of the foam gun as well as the end of the brass pin are tight. you do not want to lose these!

And make sure the tiny siphon/bleed hole in the top one isn't clogged.



I don't mind losing the one on the end of the mixing-bar, so I've quit locktiting (?SP?) it.
 
Just got my replacement today from amazon. I'll check both screws on the old one, I know the one on the end was loose in the box upon arrival, but not sure about the one on top. The new one has both screws installed already. They don't tighten very well do they?

Eh, mine get pretty tight. Remember that brass is kinda soft.



The one on the end just keeps the mixture-bar from sliding out all the way. It's not critical and I've gone ages without it being there. The one on top as that tiny bleed/siphon hole that *does* matter.



Something else to inspect is that mixture-bar itself. Remove the screw at its end and pull the bar out of the housing. Hold it up to a light and check out the row of holes. See how they range from tiny to pretty big- that's what makes it more/less soapy. Make sure none are clogged.

DING DING DING! Winner. Apparently my first unit came from amazon without the screw on the top! WHen I opened the box the slide bar screw was loose in the box, but there was no other screw anywhere.



I put my finger over the bleed/siphon hole and the foam increased in density and 'clinginess' even with the gold class.



thanks for the tip about those screws, now I'm a happy camper with my replacement unit.

If they sent you a whole (complete) second unit, then you have two bottles to work with! I fill 'em up before I start the wash so I can just swap an empty for a full, goes a little faster than refilling from the jug of concentrate.



Actually, I bet you could get Gilmour to send you that bleed screw if you called them up and asked very nicely :D



If you want to put a little thread locking stuff on it, be *VERY* careful that you don't somehow clog up that bleed hole.
