Vapor steam cleaner

Auto Deailing
Hi:

I bought a vapor Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. I really don't understand the difference between steam cleaners and vapor steam cleaners, but the Mega 500VP vacuum vapor steam cleaner appeared to have the features to clean my tile without needing to use towels.

Does anyone have experience with vapor steam cleaners?

Thanks.

Marie

I don't know about your specific unit, but generally speaking vapor=steam=vapor=steam. Which are not the same as hot water extractors.

IME, you can clean grout without the use of a towel, but cleaning tiles, you still need to wipe away the residue somehow, some way.

Mr. Clean- The idea (as I understand it) behind that particular unit is that it combines a wet/dry vacuum (extractor) with the steamer, so it really *might* not require much, if any, follow-up with a towel.

mariejones- Welcome to Autopia!

That's an interesting unit (I have Daimer's 1500C instead), how well does it vacuum up the condensed steam/water and the stuff that gets emulsified/cleaned/loosened?

As Mr. Clean noted, the "vapor" terminology is most likely just fancy-wording. Steam *is* vapor (water vapor), though some manufacturers make a big deal out of claims that their steam is "dryer" than that of their competitors.

Where were my manners? I didn't even make note of the fact that was your initial post. My apologies to mariejones for not including a hearty Welcome to Autopia! Thanks to Accumulator for watching out for me. :2thumbs:

I'll also admit to my laziness in not doing even rudimentary research on the specific model. :o I made note of the mentioned vacuum function, but didn't go any further. Interesting to see that dirt/grime etc. might be vacuumed up rather than wiping. Alas, I was in too big of a hurry to try to dispell any distinction between the terms steam and vapor. It can be a bit confusing. When I've had our carpets "steam cleaned", it was really just hot water extraction. Thanks Accumulator for all additional clarification.

Heh heh, yeah, the whole "steam clean" thing gets awfully misused...like my Hoover "Steam Vac Jr." that doesn't even heat the water
