Vapor Clean - Horrible Company

Alright, so I'm extremely frustrated at this point. And this is going to be a long rant so I apologize.

March 2011 I purchased the Gaia (steamer/extractor) from vapor clean, which is owned by Puregreen International, LLC.

The machine cost me $769 and at first I was pretty impressed with the machine.

I used the extractor maybe 5 or 6 times and the pump died. So, I only had the steamer portion working. I contacted the company to see if maybe there was a repair shop in my area that I could bring it to. Being in the middle of summer and being busy I didn't want to be without the steamer for a long period of time. Turns out you have to ship the unit back.

I talked to another detailer who also owns this machine and had recommended it to me. He suggested maybe a local vacuum repair shop. So, I thought that's a great idea. Took it around to a few local shops and none of them could do anything with it nor did they have the proper tools to even open the machine up.

Anyway, I waited a few months until business slowed down and contacted the company. They required that I pay a $175 deposit on the machine and pay to ship it back. Even though it clearly states on their website the machine has a 1 year warranty and shipping is included. So, after talking to the service dept I said OK since I had no other choice.

Shipped it back and I got it back within a week. Great turn around time! Problem being they shipped it to my old address. Even though I had followed all their instructions and had a slip of paper inside the box that stated my name, address, phone number, etc to be shipped back to (per their instructions) and they still shipped it to the wrong address.

After contacting them again they re-routed it to my correct address. I get the machine back and it works. But there is no explanation of what they did or if I was going to be charged.

I check my bank account and sure enough I was charged the $175. So, I emailed the service dept asking for an explanation. I waited a couple days and nothing. So I sent another email. Nothing. Today I called and was told "Sorry sir but I'm not the one who deals with this. I'll pass your message along to the service dept and try to get someone to get back to you today. It looks like you shouldn't have been charged".

So, now I am going to have to wait for the explanation and if I'll get my money back for the deposit and shipping costs.

Overall I'm BS with the company and will never do business with them again. I paid good money for this machine and I would expect that their customer service would be better. Just goes to show that good service is hard to find these days.

Only thing they have going for them is the quick turn around time. But at the cost of $175 I'm not too happy. For all I know they could have unplugged a tube and charged me for 10 minutes of work.

I just wanted to give everyone a fair warning that this company is not one to do business with. If your looking for a steamer or extractor go with another company.

That's why the whole world of internet shopping is a crap-shoot. Convenient, but a crap-shoot. Here's for hoping you get a hold of a service manager and they make things right.

On a somewhat related topic, my Durr Maid extractor is run by a fellow that is very helpful over the phone.

Be sure to email them a link to this post and any others you post. (On as many related forums you can find.) If they like your $175 so much I am sure they will hate the potential thousands you will be costing them. They taught you an expensive lesson in internet shopping. You owe it to them to teach them an expensive lesson in customer satisfaction and honoring warranties.

I sent them the links to all the forums I've posted this on. So, I'm waiting to hear still. I'm giving them another hour and if I don't hear back I'm calling up again and talking to whoever is in charge. Not that I expect that will get me any where but have to go some where.

It's really shame that companies like this can continue to operate this way with no repercussions. It seems like more and more companies are operating this way. Could care less about the little man.

Well I called up and spoke to a lady that said she was the manager. Gave her my name and then boom she transfers me without telling me. Customer service 101..you let the person on the phone know before you transfer them. But whatever...

I talk to the guy I spoke to yesterday who said "i'm sending you email now you should read the email and then call back if you have a problem".

They told me that they extended the benefit to me to refund the money and that because I was using the machine for "commercial use" that it voided my warranty. And because I was nice to them yesterday they decided to refund it. Mean while this whole time everyone I have talked to said the unit was covered. Amazing!

I just looked them up on the BBB and what a surprise they have an F rating.

At this point I have my $175 back and it's a waste of my time to continue to argue with them over my shipping costs. I guess I should be happy that they gave that back to me right?!

They also requested I remove these threads. Not happening.

Oh and I still haven't got the explanation of what they did to repair the unit. So, apparently I'm not getting that either.

I'm done...days like today makes quitting smoking hard...2 weeks today!

I would suggest taking a quick $ hit and selling the unit while it is still working.... Reason being, if it goes down again it doesn't sound like they are going to fix it because of the "commercial" usage.

I know I will NEVER buy from these guys....

Your right and I actually considered it. However, I would not want someone to pick the unit up and then have to deal with this BS like I have.

I'm going to just continue to use the machine because right now it's working and it gets the job done. When it breaks again I'll be getting rid of it and buying from another company that I research prior to buying from.

I'm sorry this has happened Jason, but now that I've looked at the unit and realized it wasn't designed for commercial use, you may want to consider taking down the threads. I'm going to ask the wife if there are any legal implications with it now.
