valedictorian of my class passed away this weekend...

it was my first time...
Very sad to think a girl I knew since 1st grade, with so much potential died so sudden. Apparently she was enrolled in a summer class at her college, and for the last week wasn't feeling to good. She shrugged it off like any dedicated student and got through the final week of the class. She got home from school and ended up going to the doctors, where they immediately placed her in the hospital. She was there for like a week, where she was diagnosed with a urinary infection, which apparently if not treated immediately can be deadly. Anyway she wasn't in great shape but her death definately caught everyone off guard. Her mother left the hospital with her doing fine, than 45 mins got the one call i'm sure every parent dreads.

Its such a shame to die at such a young age, only 21, and especially a girl with so much potential. She was always smart and worked hard, she was valedictorian of my class and was voted "most likely to succeed" (senior superlatives). Anyway i'm going to the wake tommorow night and probably the mass thurs morning. I'm really not looking forward to meeting a bunch of kids I went to school with too mourn a friend. Its going to be a really sad situation.

Just though i'd share it with the Autopian community, its been on my mind the past day and a half.

RIP Jamie :(

Sorry to hear about the bad news! Sounds like she contracted what we call Gram negative sepsis. The most likely culprit was a bacteria called Escherichea coli (E.coli). E. coli is the most common organism causing UTI. When E. coli gaines access to the blood stream, the outcome is usually bad if not treated in a relatively short amount of time.

That is sad when a life is so full of potential is cut short.

My condolences.
