Vacuums - What do you think of this vac?

Currently I have a 16 gallon 6.5hp Craftsman and its just so honking big and it really does not suck as hard as I thought it would. I am thinking of putting it on Craigslist and getting this smaller guy...

Is 5hp compared to my 6.5hp going to be that much of a difference? Why cant they make a small 10 gallon or less 6.5hp model?

Never mind I just read the reviews and apparently its odd sized hose is a big complaint as well as the filter almost touching the bottom and clogging fast.

I just bought the Ridgid Porta Pak 5hp wet/dry and it's fantastic. Everything fits in side compartments (hose, ends, cord, etc) and it's about the size of a big tackle box. $99 was a little steep, but man it is super portable, works like a charm.

I love that vacuum. It's what I use every day. I had no need for that 10 gallon 6.5 hp model. Just takes up more space IMHO.

It sucks hard, rarely need to empty it, and fits nicely in my trunk. Crevice attachments would be nice, though (they're sold separately).

x2 - this is a winner. No complaints at all.

Zoran, I don't know as I've never tried the Lowes vac. That lifetime warranty roped me in.

What is roping me in top Ridgid Pro-Pack is it's tackle box design. Very convenient. Perfect for putting in corner of small apartment. I am tempted to return Lowe's one and get Ridgid one as long as they "suck" close even though Ridgid one is more expensive. Convenience matters to me a lot.

Only thing is I don't see on specs is Ridgid Pro-Pack wet/dry or just dry? I want wet/dry.

I have the big Craftsman vac as well. I went to the 5 horse 4 gallon Craftsman and I like it.

It works well and fits in my truck alot nicer than the big vacuum. You just have to empty it more often. Joe

Zoran: it is Wet/Dry and that's the one I have. Excellent suction, super convenient, and fits in the trunk of my car for on-site work.

I'd recommend it heartily!

Thank you Toto! Lowe's is going back then, I am getting Pro-Pack.
