Vacume Cleaners

I just wanna ask what vacume cleaners other detailers are using? I have a shop-vac 5.5 hp thats about 4 months old it's alright for now but they don't hold up for long. I think when it goes out im gonna go to home depot and buy a rigid. Any suggestions.

I have a rigid, 6.5 hp 16 gallon. Works great, I had one that lasted 3 years. When it died, I bought the exact same one.

I've had Fein Vacuums, and they work great, they're quiet and they lasted till I was tired of them and passed them along.

Right now though, in the interest of space mostly, I'm using a Metro VacNBlo the 4 hp model. Works great with better hoses and the blower function means I don't have to carry a dedicated blower around with me anymore. Also, it's powerful and quiet.

Not as inexpensive as the shop vacs but much quieter.

My Craftsman shop-vac is on its way out and I've been giving some thought to a Metro VacnBlo; is it better then a large shop-vac like say 5-6hp.

Interesting that people have vacuums die so often. For once I'm getting better reliability than somebody else :D

I have a number of Craftsman wet/dry vacs, never had one die on me yet and my newest one is over ten years old.

For vacuuming the interiors of vehicles, I use an old Hoover cannister model (at least 15 years old; my oldest one, from '87, finally died earlier this year). I sometimes use the powerhead for floormats and large carpeted areas.

Wap Alto vacuum. Very powerful and quiet. Over six years of daily use, and only replaced the cord and the carbon brushes.

:woot:Thank's for the input, it looks like i have a few different options. I want to buy one that is going to last more than a few months, over the last 5 years i have been through a few.

i just bought the 80 rigid because i needed something smaller than the 16gal 5.5HP craftsman...

lets just say the rigid SUCKS....but in a good way!!!! 5hp and 4 gal = win!

My other hobby is woodworking and I punish shop vacs relentlessly. Long continuous run time is murder on them. I burned up a Craftsman after about 3 years. I now have a rigid going strong for near 5 years.

craftsman 5.5hp, 16gal, and a 3hp(if I remember correctly) 2gal Husky. The husky isn’t very good, I just use it on light clean ups because I can just tote it around easily.

It's quiet but not wet dry, it has 95 inches of lift. I like mine but I don't do excavations.

Is there a way to know how much water lift a wet vac has? I've checked the specs on some of them and none of them list it. Is there a conversion between hp and lift? Or does it not work that way?

Would you care to provide a link to which Ridged you purchased, thanks.
