I have been running a mobile detailing business for 10 yrs now full time. Just sold off the trailer set up and now running the business out of a cargo van. Joining to network with other like minded individuals and to add what experience and knowledge I know and to maybe learn some new things!

Welcome! Where in Virginia are you located?

How do you see it different with the van compared to the trailer? Is it a big change in your process, capabilities, or what?

Northern Virginia. The trailer was nice because you can use your personal vehicle and drop the trailer and the cost is much less for start up vs getting a cargo van. Parking can be difficult and people seem to have less respect for people with trailers. I have no idea why they want to do whatever they can do get in front of you even when you are going over the speed limit! Its easier to walk in and out of. Now that I have the van its nice to be able to park a lot easier, better gas mileage, its taking some adjustment but I am liking the van set up more and more.

I agree with you there. I have an Astro that I converted into a cargo van, and I love it. I couldn't imagine not having a van to do mobile detail work. I suggest having a nice paint job on the van. I have paint peeling off on the hood and roof, and I've gotten a couple of stares from it and people laughing at it. I even heard one guy say quietly and he thought I couldn't hear him but I did, "That detailer can't even detail his own van!" I actually got a kick out of it. Welcome to the boards

Haha. Yeah gotta have your own whip looking nice.
Plus you can add your company graphics and contact info on the side of a van.
E150's and chevy 1500's can be picked up at a reasonable price.
