uv protection

bcwang- I treat my black plastic trim same as paint. Either the Klasse twins or BFII over AIO (sometimes topping with wax). Be prepared to use a little Final Inspection when buffing off the sealant (not quite as easy as on smooth, glossy surfaces) and don't let it set up for hours as you might with regular paint.

I do the same thing for my wiper arms. If you want to keep a matte/satin black effect on them, just go easy on the cleaning/prep step.

Some vendors, such as Lexol, are deliberately misleading in their labeling and advertising. 303 Aerospace Protectant, which has documented ultraviolet blockage of over 98%, is the exception.

Actually, any company that claims their dressing to have any UV protection worth mentioning is being pretty misleading...303, Lexol, Meguiars...etc...doesn't matter which company. From talking to several people in the industry (not folks who work for 303 or Meguiars), the consensus seems to be that it is impossible or impractical to incorporate enough UV absorber and apply a thick enough coating and frequently recoat the surface often enough to filter out any significant or measurable amount of UV rays.

Many companies do put some kind of UV protector in their waxes and dressings just to make a UV claim....but in reality they make no difference whatsoever.

Most UV protection for your car is already there before you wax or dress your car...and the key is to just protect and maintain these parts of your car.
