USPS Priority is a joke!

...The only tracking you get with USPS Priority, is, when it was received at USPS, and when the recipient got it...Is that tracking ???...

No it isn't and it's not sold as tracking either. It's called "delivery confirmation" which only means just as it says, it will post when the item was delivered. And keep in mind that "delivered" does not mean signed for, it means delivered with the rest of the mail. Priority Mail is simply First Class mail, nothing more!

If you want true tracking you have to specifically request registered or certified or send the item Express Mail.

Hint: for short distances, say less than 100 miles or so, you can send an item UPS Ground and it usually gets there the next day or day after. It's very fast.

DFTowel....the Post Office is really a funny place. Back years ago, when overnight letters by FedEX, UPS, and Airborne were not really around, we would mail almost everything at work. We could mail something to a local company, and something to the other coast, on a Friday, and the one to CA would get there on Monday, while the local one would take a week. I once went out of my way to drive a few towns over to mail something to a vendor on a Sunday, and the PO lobby was open and everything, this was the PO in the same town as the vendor. I called them on Thursday, and they didn't have it yet. I told them I mailed it AT THEIR LOCAL POST OFFICE. They told me it takes a week when you do that! :nixweiss :wall

I have found the same thing lately...I can get a Priority Mail package from west coast in a couple of days....but one from New Hampshire took a week...it's the stuff that goes by air that goes smoother, I guess.

Yes, we have already established that fact......I mailed something two days ago, and the USPS "has no evidence of shipping"....yet other mailed items were verified. Just not a comfortable situation.

As for UPS, i wouldnt mail an empty envelope with them.....I just find there rates unsatisfactory, anything close goes either first class, Priority, or FedEx.

Sounds like everyone dislikes someone !! Im more concerned when a recipient asks for a tracking number, i give it to them, but USPS says it has no evidence of a package! How do you respond?!?!?

Trust me? I shipped it, honest?

This is a big concern of mine.....

Yes, Patrick the USPS tracking is a joke, but what I have found from receiving orders from you (ExcelDetail) and DavidB (Autopia Store) that use USPS Priority services and ship across country to me is that I can depend on the fact that my package will arrive in 2-3 days. That includes Saturday delivery.

I love UPS's tracking but I hate excluding Saturday delivery without a fee. I hate tracking a package and seeing it sit in some distribution center all weekend.

In terms of service I receive excellent results from all (UPS, USPS and Fedex) because of the volume of items shipped to our house. They know us and just leave the packages on the front pouch (a good 30 - 40 yards off the road). :xyxthumbs

When Patrick sent me my order with FedEx i was very pleased with the tracking, i knew exactly what day it was coming. I was also twice as pleased with the way it was packaged. This baby wasn't going anywhere.

My experience.

I will never again have something delivered via USPS. My last shipment almost got lost because the incompetent carrier took it to the wrong address. Luckily it wasn't opened. And have you ever seen the little yellow card they leave you when you're not home? Please. Service is the worst.

The tracking system is a joke. And I mean a total joke. UPS and Fedex have far superior tracking systems.

Oh yeah, did I mention that the mail carrier stuffed my diploma inside my mail box when the package said "Do Not Bend?" So now I have a creased college degree.

Go Brown or Go Fedex.
