Using too much tire shine? I may have your solution.

I could've sworn I saw an applicator pad with a plastic formed cover that the application side seats in for storage. I thought it was a great idea, I'll have to look for it.

I rest mine on a folded paper towel. Towel absorbs any left overs and is ready for use next time around. I use full foam applicators and EO swipes and tire dressing tends to find its way to the yellow part in time. I usually put a laytex glove on to keep my hands free from the dressing.

I use the 12/$1 yellow/green kitchen sponges for applicators .. they hold up well and at that price are disposable after a bunch of uses ..

Between uses I put them face down in 1/2 of a plastic soap bar travel container .. If I am going to a show or out of town where I take it with me I put the top on the soap container with the sponge inside.

I just bought my EO tire dressing applicators and I was actually thinking of using a cheap soap dish. I think that would work pretty well too, similar to Jesstzn. :xyxthumbs

Awesome tip Jesstzn:woot:

I learn something new on Autopia everyday. I always used a ziplock bag when I went to car shows. Now I know what I will be using from now on :xyxthumbs

Well I now have the aluminum foil folded over the applicator, and it's secured in a Ziploc bag too. :)

Thanks for the idea guys.

I'm with Jesstzn, I go to the Dollar store and buy a bag of a dozen or so sponges, the small ones with a scrubber type back on them. The sponges last forever it seems with the Meg's Hot Shine I use and the scrubber backing helps to keep the sponge from slipping out of your hand when saturated with tire shine. I just leave my current sponge in a plastic tray, not covered or anything in my garage and use it every weekend when I detail my four cars. (Gulp, only 4 cars now, sold my beloved '92 Lingenfelter Corvette 3 weeks ago, it now resides in Alberta, Canada with it's new owner. Talk about a tough one, I'm not sure I'll ever get over that car, but it will pay for 2 years of my son's college tuition. Guess that's what Dad's are for sometimes)

I commend you on letting something so close and personal go, for your son. College is something I need to consider for my 2 sons, now 6 & 4.
