Using swirl remover over polish...

pirate252, do you really mean Platinum "polish"? or do you mean "wax"? If your dad taught you like my dad taught me, then you may use the terms interchangeably. In Autopia, we don't. Polish is an abrasive product that removes/reduces scratches/swirls/etc. Wax is for shine enhancement and production. SMR is merely a mild form of polish. So if you're using a polish (like DACP, IHG, 3M compounds or Finesse-It, etc.), then yeah, SMR is a good last step -- after which you can wash again and move on to a wax or sealant.
No, it's never too late to remove those pesky swirls. However, any mild abrasive polish (like that swirl remover) will blow your Platinum away instantly. Get rid of those swirls, and then re-do your Platinum. Oh yes, and please let us know how well that Turtle Wax swirl remover works. 
Like Lynn said, "polish" can be a touchy word.
I like to reserve that word for stuff with some kind of cutting power, no matter how gentle, just because that's how most people think of the word "polish" anyway.

I like to reserve that word for stuff with some kind of cutting power, no matter how gentle, just because that's how most people think of the word "polish" anyway.It could be that it's simply not strong enough.... maybe try wiping an area with alcohol to see if its just hiding them a bit, or is actually abrasive. Sometimes swirls are too deep for a "swirl remover" to get rid of and requires something stronger, though it would help if we had more experience with that TW product and how it compares to the "usual" stuff.
