Using PC on my washing machine

I got my orbital in the mail today and decided to take it out for a spin... on the WASHING MACHINE! :lol:



Before polishing and after washing and claying:

I masked off half of the lid to see the difference between one side and the other. There's tons of deep scratches on the lid and the washing machine has never been washed or detailed... I was not able to get out all the deep scratches but most came out ok. I think the washing machine has a single stage paint.



4 Stage order is:



1. Optimum Compound with a orange pad - PC speed 6

2. Optimum Polish with a white pad - PC speed 5

3. Optimum Poli-Seal with a black finishing pad - PC speed 5

4. Topper - Poorboy's EX Sealant with Carnuba - hand applied



What do you guys think? Would this work good on cars? Any ideas how to get out the deeper scratches or maybe it's not worth it?
 
Is it worth it? I guess that depends on whether your wash regimen is such that new swirls won't be introduced, how much it might increase the resale value of your washer, and whether your personal pride will allow you to have a swirled washer...:grinno:

Did you polish the metal inside the machine? What about the clear plastic on the door? How long did the whole process take or was it just a specific touch up area? :laugh:

ROFL! I'm pretty sure the real reason he polished it is because none of us can wash our clothes with pride if our machine (washing machine, that is) is covered with swirls.

I guess that's great practice with a PC before taking on a cars paint.

Thats too funny! You know how many times Ive thought about polishing my bathroom counter tops!



Maybe this weekend when I get my Makita Ill give it a go (haha). Wonder what the wife would think then!

What I want to know is, did it increase the CSD (cat skid distance)?



When I try out waxes on my washer/dryer I chase one of my wifes cats so it jumps up there and see how far it skids when it lands. I haven't tried buffing/polishing the machines yet as they're 26 years old and the paint is pretty well trashed.



So far, UPP/UGE has the greatest CSD with Z-2/Z-6 being a close second. :D
 
Your washer must have much softer paint than my dryer. I worked on it with the Metabo with PG and and a wool cutting pad. I mean I *really* worked it over, a few different times. Practically no difference at all.
 
If you really want to practice with the PC and do some real good around the house, sling some polish around on your shower door! Follow that up with some Poli-Seal and a sealant. Water won't stand a chance and it'll make cleaning the shower a lot easier.

I am going to try that ASAP as I have to wax the tiles soon so it wil be an easy task to clean soap scum buildup from my shower because of the Hard water Ca. has.:waxing:
 
now i know . . . i no longer feel alone in this world . . . knowing that someone, somewhere went the distance, against harsh critisism and negative energy - to correct the pait on their washing machine. this is no joke. this is no effort at poking fun. i will sleep beter at night knowing you used a portercable and optimum products on a washing machine. Because I did. And they laughed at me.



Well look whose laughing now ! to those nay sayers i say this . . .

What's wrong with that?!?!? I started with my ac unit (35k btu split unit, so its a pretty big outside unit) and found CG Revive polish w/ glaze topped w/ Collinite 845 IW the perfect combo. Wife won't let me near the washer/dryer with my machines. But now that I got the Festool, she might reconsider.
 
I have never PC'd my washer. But our glass shower doors have been done. Whoever thought of put floor to roof glass doors, needs their head examined (yes it could have been me:)) Little did I know 10ft glass doors = total cleaning nightmare. The PC with KAIO worked fantastic, makes them so much easier to clean now.
