Using clay

I had never heard of using a clay bar before this year and the question I have is this. I have used Zaino Bro's quite a bit on the car and do I need to strip it all off for a clay bar to work or can I start using it right away?

Thanks

You can certainly use clay if you like, but it will probably not clean/strip everthing off the paint.

For Zaino, I would recommend using whatever polishes you need to get the paint clean/swirl free, and then finish up with a paint cleaner, and then wash and dry the vehicle. You want Zaino to bond to the paint, and nothing else..................... if you are trying to achieve maximum durability.

You can use a clay immediately after a wash. The clay will strip most everything off I belive (wax/sealant) so be prepared to reapply wax/sealant when you're done.

Click here for the OCD Clay Article. That is sort of my answer to your question. I was claying a car on Monday for a customer and commented how clay is not that difficult to do. However, because it is something that not many people are familiar with, it becomes a little intimidating. It really isn't that tough. Just wash the car and you can start going.

Thanks for the helpful hints. After a day of detailing it is fun checking out how the car looks under the lights. It is fun talking cars and detailing with young people and being 53 it keeps me young as well. It seems that my 94 TBird is fun to look at for the younger set because it is so big. The Zaino really helps it to stand out.

Umm...what is Zaino and what's it used for? I've seen it mentioned but since I am overstocked didn't buy any earlier.

Any special uses for it that other stuff I have -- AIO, SG, PB EX, EX-P, etc -- doesn't give me?

I have never used it, but a lot of people love Zaino. it is supposedly one of the most durable products. I do like the idea of the cure-enhancement product. It allows you to apply multiple coats in one day.

Multiple coats in 1 day? Durable? KA-CHING!!!

Will have to check out sponsors to see who has it.
