lets just say a certain misses washed my MF's with all the other towels cuz 'im too lazy to do another load' is a good reason. lmao anyway joking aside, i noticed right away they were leaving white lint or something all over the car while i was drying it. so did the fabric softener hurt the MFs in any other way?
 
I agree with truzoom. It may take several washes w/ vinegar rinses to get all the fabric softener out of the microfibers.



The fabric softener doesn't really "hurt them" as you put it. Although, they will be less absorbent and might cause products to streak.
 
Depending on the size of the washing load, you need about a quarter cup of vinegar or less per wash. You add it to the final rinse.
 
Where can I buy some good MF's that will last (Any brand names? or links would be great). Also, I read some are good for drying and some are good for applying and some are good for buffing. Is there a standard for each (Ultra micro, micro weave, plush)? OVERLOAD OVERLOAD Thanks

is it safe to say that the 80/20 MFs on ebay are probably pretty cheap? :think:

I think your lint problem is just from washing cotton fabrics with your MF. You got lint stuck in the towels from the other clothes or whatever you were washing.
 
Paul is right... it's not the fabric softener, it's the cotton lint picked up from the other towels. MF towels will pick up and hold just about anything small enough. Sawdust, dirt, grit, etc. The cotton lint will come out in a couple of washes.

Just wash them in Charlies soap. It will remove the softner and restore them to like new condition. You will no longer need any softner if you use Charlies soap as your normal wash soap. No, i do not work for them just a recient convert to a better product that the Tide I have been using.

BINGO! I would only use those on interiors or other messy cleanups. They are only good if you want to have marred/swirled paint. :soscared:
 
I just pulled a load of towels out of the dryer this morning and found a used fabric softener sheet in with them.



What should I do?



It was a used sheet, so I don't think much got on them, but still.

I was contaminating my mf's with fabric softener because of the little fabric softener hopper on a Neptune (still some residual in there from regular washes and it would wash out when I washed mf). A wash and an extra rinse cycle with Charlie's took care of it.
