**URGENT** Public Statement - Please Read

Hey all, just a quick little Thread to let you know I finally got Z1,Z5,and then 48 hours later Z2 on my ride. The Z1 and Z5 did very well, but when I added Z2 yesterday one word (awsome) this stuff goes on and comes off so easy.I also tried the Zaino tire dressing and it looks great on my tires but a little to shinny for me on plastic surfaces. Now I just have to figure this glass cleaning thing out smears everywhere. Thanks to all for the help!!!!!!:)

Todd,

Did you let the polish haze before removing? I had no problems with it myself, but I usually let it haze on my windows for about 30 minutes. It was able to get out water marks that lime-away couldn't remove! Glass looks great.

I really did'nt make my problem clear, the Zaino on my glass looks great. My problem is the glass after I clean it seems to always show streaks in the bright sun. This has nothing to do with the Zaino.I need to try some other glass cleaners have tried Windex,Vinager water,Alcohol water nothing seem to get all the streaks out. Thanks for your input.

I use water and a Miracle towel on my windows and do them everyday. well I try everyday but at least every other.

Keeps them clean and shiny.

I'm with BigBoy. Stoners works great, although I hear 3M foam works pretty well too. I use water with an MF or newspaper on a semi daily basis and then the Stoners after a car wash.

Never use a towel that has ever been used to remove polishes/waxes/sealants/dressings to clean glass.

Have dedicated towels that are washed and dryed seperate from the other towels. Do not use fabric softener in the wash either, the silicones transfer to the towel and then the glass.

Best are used, clean "huck" or "surgical" towels, although Micro Fibers will work very well, just expensive, save them for the paint.(if you get new surgicals, wash them at least twice to remove any "sizing" that is in the material as it can release and cause streaking as well) Also, this keeps you from getting them confused.

Use two (2) towels, folded into quarters.

The reason for this is the same as when wet sanding, EVEN CONTACT with the glass.

Mist ALL the glass you are cleaning, do not just shoot a stream at one spot and then move it around. (one of the reasons some think the aerosols are better, it gets on more glass)

Allow the glass cleaner to have a few seconds to break down the film and dirt on the glass.

Agitate with one folded towel in striaght movements, not circular.

Then, using the second towel, remove the wet film in striaght lines. If you feel the towel "sliding" , not grabbing on the glass, you have missed a spot. Feel sliding and you will have a smear or streak.

This is the system I developed over 14 years ago for the car companies large pre-delivery centers and we still use today in our own centers.

On any given week day now, the employees are cleaning the glass on 200 plus vehicles and the dealers are very happy.

Just give it a try, think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Why wash glass dedicated towels seperately from paint dedicated towles? Aren't the towles thoroughly cleaned by the washing machine, regardles of what's on them?

One more question that's kind of off topic. Will washing my car care towels/aplicators that are full of residue from abrasives etc in the washing machine have a negative effect on my clothes, and more importantly, my health?

Thanks Ron.:)

It is just years of experience. The waxes, chemical compounds in car care products are meant to take a beating from the enviorment. When you wash, some of them move from towel to towel and then when the alcohols and surfactants in the glass cleaner hit the towel, breaks some of them loose and they can go on the glass.

If washing towels/applicators that have been used to apply products with hydrocarbon solvents in them (almost all do) then some stay in the machine and may end up on your clothing.

You should open and smell the washer and dryers in our shops!!!

Have to keep on the people to run a cycle with nothing in the machines between washings. Also have them run a cycle with the glass towels using vinegar added. This seems to break the rest of the stuff loose and away from the towels.

So, to answer the health/clothing concern, run another cycle with nothing in the machine (perhaps a cup of vinegar) before washing anything else in the unit. This will assure that there is no cross contamination.

Thanks Ron. I'll do that next time. My Mom's gonna yell at me though. She complains that the water bill is too high. I can only imagine what she'll do when she sees me running the washing machine with no clothes in it. I'll have to move to mexico and assume a new identity.

Ay caramba!:D

When you say "surgical" towels, do you mean the green or gray ones that are slightly textured (almost like a knit) or the very smooth towels that are more like a sheet? Those are the two varieties that I am familiar with.

Just a quick note about transfering chemicals to your other clothes. Unless you are a serious detailer and running loads of detailing towels every day, I doubt that there will be a very big problem of residue transfer. Most machines today run a pretty thorough rinse cycle, good enough for the weekend warriors one or two loads of towels. Besides, I kinda like the way my underwear glides on so easily now!!! :D

Hey Ron, I noticed you did not say what kind of glass cleaner you prefer.I have the towel washing down pat and if they have to much crap on them I just toss em.Believe me I don't use my expensive one in places that would get them to dirty. Thanks Ron for the great tips and thanks again to all:)

PS> Whats a huck:confused:
