**Urgent** Public Statement - Please read

Just for your information, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police has advised me to issue a public statement that someone has been going around the Internet pretending to be me. The person is using my full name, Tim Lingor and/or 2hotford along with a photograph of me on certain sites as his avatar. Please be advised that this person is an impostor and anything that he says should be ignored and/or deleted.



The police are actively seeking this individual and his IP address. If you have any information please contact Constable C. McKinnon of the Kelowna RCMP Detachment at (250)762-3300.

j/k, hope he gets caught...this is one of the biggest flaws of the internet, and cyber-crime is only getting worse. good luck at catching him.
 
Good luck, Tim. I hope they catch the *****. Some clown tried to hijack my brother's business's name, last month, and steer business to themselves, so I hope they catch this @ssclown.
 
Maybe you are the imposter...hehe :lol I hope they find the guy and everything works out for you; as well as hoping he isn't destroying your image/reputation.
 
Can you prove "you" and not the "other you" made this thread? Have you checked your personal info to make sure that he hasn't compromised your credit info? Good luck.
 
Hmm, I think you could possibly be the impostor... BTW (no offense) who are you and why would someone be impersonating you on the net? They say that mimicking/impersonation is the dearest form of flattery... sounds to me like he/she may be trying to slander your name... Look to those closest to you first, because obviously if they're trying to slander your name they must know you well... We haven't met yet, but my sympathies go out to you for the inconveniences this situation has caused you.

2hotford is a highly respected detailer who has contributed a whole lot to the field and who has an excellent, and widespread, reputation. If somebody were to pick a detailer to do this to, well...there's a good reason why they'd pick him.



Heh heh, I'm so surprised that somebody asked this that, well...at first I thought you were being facetious.

Yep, I know who he is now :). I'm not a member of MOL or any other US-based detailing forums so I guess that's why we haven't met yet.
 
I'm pretty certain it is not a felony to pretend to be somebody else online in Canada.

I wish you luck and if identity has been comprimised you can alert the Social Security Admin. and put a code word on your SS # by calling the SS admin.

Tim Lingor is one of the most respected detailers on the boards. Fantastic write ups in detail on the process that takes a lot of time to do.

I have learned so much and have become better but still no expert! :D

Why anyone would do this is beyond me.

agreed, and it's a shame he's not a moderator on MOL anymore. he along with quite a few others, do not post there as much or at all anymore...
