UPP, BF, Zaino??

I have been using UPP and EX quite a bit. There are slight differences, the EX has slightly more depth and the UPP has slightly more gloss. I generally go with the UPP on lighter colored cars, especially nice on silver. There are also differences on using them, the UPP needs time to bond (30-60 minutes), I have found that if it is humid you need to wait a little longer to avoid the streaking, the streaking is either from using too much product or not waiting long enough. The EX can be used in direct sun by applying and removing after a few minutes, but I recommend that you try to keep it on for about 45 minutes which gives it the best look. Toppers - UPP for me I don't see much if any enhancement of applying S100 or any other carnauba, but EX on top of three layers of UPP is stunning. EX is enhanced by S100, I have been able to put two layers of EX followed by a layer of S100 and then tried EX over that with no problem (waited one day between applications). QD's - UPP my fav is QD+. EX - my fav is Quikshine. Platinum QD also looks great on both.

Personally I prefer these products over SG but that is personal preference thing and not saying anything negative about SG, it is a very high quality product.

Unfortunately I haven't tried BF.

Jngr, is using goat urine standard procedure in Ootah? :D

I have used BF II. It's a good product. I did not have any problems with oils or smearing (well, the polish's oils seperated when it froze--don't leave it out in the garage where it could freeze). I think it could be that I used it in December. It was fairly cold out, but the air was very dry. This could have helped the smearing problem, I'm really not sure. It's fairly durable (I have not used any other sealants). You'll be impressed if you get it. I don't think you'll be dissapointed with any of these, as it is great to know your wax is lasting over a week in the sun.

UPP: Haven't tried recent version. I hear it's very similar to BF

They're remarkably similar. PuPP doesn't smear as much as BF, but it's still a very smeary product if you don't apply it ULTRA thin and wait an hour. I apply all products like Zaino, Klasse & waxes as thin as I can, but PUPP takes the "apply sealants in thin coats" concept to a whole new level.

Or is it just coincidence their initial introduction to the market as well as multiple formulation upgrades occured at approximately the same times?

UPP has undergone more upgrades than BFII has. At least, they've gone through more than BF has told us about. All you really need to get is a bottle of UPP as of right now and a bottle of BFII as of right now and you'll see how totally different they are. I don't know if Platinum has done another change or not, but the recent bottles I got are very different from Blackfire.

3xUPP + 1x EX + 1x S100, 2x EX + one day + 1x S100 + one day + 1x EX. QD+ if you're using UPP, QuikShine is you're using EX, but not so if you do 3xUPP + 1x EX + 1x S100, 2x EX + one day + 1x S100 + one day + 1x EX. And people complain Zaino is confusing?!

Thomas, I don't mean to rain on your parade, but from what I've heard, EX contains solventy cleaners that are harsh enough to remove UPP and S100. So:

2x EX isn't layering...

Waiting one day between EX "layers" won't make a difference...

Topping S100 with EX again removes S100...

Using EX to topp 3xUPP removes all 3xUPP...

Are you by any chance related to blkz28conv? ;) ;) ;)

This is very interesting. When BF and Platinum first came out, I couldn't tell the differences between the two. Both were fairly solventy, abrasive, and sheeted water like unwaxed paint. Then I got the BFII. It was smeary, oil slick, very mild in solvents, and beaded.

It's almost as if one chemist gave two companies the same products, and then later, each company came up with their own improvements.

I have tried the most recent upgrades for each product and I couldn't disagree more. :) They're about as similar to each other as Souveran and P21S Carnauba are. Not a bad thing at all....just commenting on their similarities.

You have purchased both products since the middle of July and tested them? They may share similarities with each other like Souveran and P21S do. Similarities like one attracts dust while the other repels it and things like that. They are certianly more different than when they first came out though. Not like P21S and S100 where the only discernable differences are price and product color.

BW, you need a degree in physics...............

Jngr, BF changed in Oct 02 correct ? (So I have a new bottle)...I have a bottle of Platinum thats probably 4 months old, your saying its been revised as of last month ? I have a new bottle too, got in July.....hmmmmmm(wonder which one that is..))

My opinion on the two, not a whole heck of a lot of diff., BF seams to be a little more "concentrated", for lack of better wording...Oilier end product but tolerable, still attracts dust however, where as Platinum doesnt, least to the same degree....But I dont thinkPlatinum gives the same depth or shine....So theres trade offs....

If its thinner than the one you had before then its the new stuff. I don't know what they changed, but they thinned it out a bit and I think its much better. If you want to test the difference between the two then put some on your finger and run your finger under the tap. Which one rinses off first?

hmmmmm....good experiment.....Does it work with Pasta sauce too ???:D

Its actually a cool test to determine how water soluable they are. If it rinses right off then you can imagine what it will do on your car while being washed or rained on. ;)
