Updating the abbreviation list (the "Secret Decoder Ring")

So when is the actual secret decoder ring gonna be updated with the info in this thread? Not that I'm impatient or anything ;)

Seconded. I guess only an administrator can make changes to that particular web page?

There's a new version of vBulletin coming for Autopia that will allow us to integrate acronym definitions directly into forum posts (known abbreviations will be highlighted in some fashion, and hovering the mouse over the word will show the expanded definition in a "tool tip" pop up). Because of that, expanding the existing decoder ring page has become a low priority.

Awesome, that sounds like a great hack for the forums. I remember seeing that in other web browers or some places somewhere, don't remember exactly, but the words have like dotted lines underneath the word and then you mouseover it and a tooltip pops up with a short definition or whatnot. That will definately help. I always find myself coming back to this page frequently, what with all the acronyms around here. Cool beans.

What type of time frame has vBulletin given for releasing this new version. Yeah I know, take however long they say it will take and double it for a more reliable release date.

I could be wrong, but I think that version has been released already. I think the version used here at Autopia is a few versions back.

Yes, Autopia is several versions behind at the moment, IIRC.

Ahhhh. I am on another message board that uses vBulletin and it just upgraded to the whatever the current version is. I only notice small differences between the two sites functionality.

Upgrades must be expensive. Atleast that is what the owner of the other site I am a member of said as to why annual member rates were increasing.:D

SIP???

Found this in a compound/polish thread but no abbreviation found. The sentence was such and such a product's cut is similar to Menz IP and SIP.

SIP = Menzerna (the brand) Super Intensive Polish. It's a polish designed with super-hard abrasives to cut the tough Ceramiclear finishes. It's similar in terms of cut to Intensive Polish or IP.

I went through all of the pages looking for SIP and hereit is on the last one. Great Sticky :xyxthumbs

When I get a chance, I may condense them all into one big list.

DG = Duragloss

(and all the numbers associated with it)

AW= Aqua Wax

LSP= Last Step Product

BHB= Boar's Hair Brush

OTC= Over The Counter
