*UPDATED 12/12* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

Re: *UPDATED 11/28* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

Awesome test. Altho that would drive me nuts having a dash thats all striped up! :D

Definately an interesting test and I look forward to seeing the results on the next update! Thanks Nick for doing this!

Re: *UPDATED 11/28* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

Pinnacle Vinyl & Rubber Protectant to me looks the darkest. I still like the shine of all products used for this test.

Re: *UPDATED 11/28* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

The lighting outside plays a role in how each product looks a week later, but it's clear that the Pinnacle and 303 have retained their darkening affect on the plastic the most. :bigups

I will be conducting some more extensive tests on Monday. :inspector:

Re: *UPDATED 11/28* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

I'vee been using the DP and Pinnacle but from the looks of your test I think that the Blackfire looks great. I've never tried their products but after looking at the pictures it's about time to place an order. Thanks for the pictures.

Re: *UPDATED 11/28* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

nice update. will also be waiting for the next one. there are differences based on the photo, but i wouldn't feel like i went wrong with any of them. nice to see that the 303 that i already have is a front contender.

Re: *UPDATED 12/5* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

Re: *UPDATED 12/5* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

Based on this current update I think I would have to say I like the way the Pinnacle is looking over the others...

Re: *UPDATED 12/5* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

The Pinnacle is looking good, along with the 303. The Griots looks likes its streaking on the lower part or is that a reflection. Little dissapointed in the Blackfire, seems to be the lighest of the bunch but I guess that could be a good thing if you don't want to darken the trim.

Re: *UPDATED 12/5* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

I'm actually liking the Blackfire because it looks the closest to the natural finish.

Re: *UPDATED 12/5* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

I think the angle of light coming from through the door is affecting the comparison. They all look to be holding up similarly, with subtle differences. The contrast shown by the tape marks shows that they are all still very much in place. The next couple of weeks I would suspect will show the true durability. Can we get a description of feel and any observations of dust accumulation or how they react to a dry cloth wipe?

Re: *UPDATED 12/5* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

For about 2 weeks now they all look very good to me, go BlackFire!

Re: *UPDATED 12/5* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

I agree the light may be affecting the results.

Can a pic be taken using diffused light like in the AG garage?

The next update will take place in a garage and you can also expect a more thorough report of each product. :rockon

Re: *UPDATED 12/5* Dashboard Protectant Face Off!

**UPDATE**

20 days after initial application, all four products are still going strong with minimal fading. Dust attraction is almost non-existent for each product which is fairly impressive.

The following pictures were taken inside of a well lit garage.

No flash

With flash

To test the durability of each protectant I rubbed a microfiber towel dampened with water across each section using moderate pressure.

The damp microfiber towel affected each protectant but the Blackfire held up the best through this test.

Expect another update in one week! :rockon
